The homes are gorgeous!!! And of course hearing about the history is always a plus. Our guide went slow and steady for us and made sure we didn't miss a single thing.

Despite rather hot weather, the tour was well worth it. James kept us engaged with the neighborhood information. You could walk a around by yourself but many things will be missed. Wrought iron fences, carriage stones, famous peoples’ houses and MANY other tidbits of information were in James tour. Highly recommened!

Fabulous tour! I'd take it again tomorrow if I could. Jackie enlightened and entertained us with stories about the history of the Garden District and the characters creating that history (you seriously couldn't make this stuff up --take the tour and find out!). The pace was perfect. We covered lots of ground but had plenty of short stops so my dad didn't get tired and I didn't get bored, which is something of a balancing feat. In fact, we both were enthralled! Jackie is a delightful storyteller with a wealth of knowledge about Garden District homes and history ranging from Civil War drama to current sports figures. I've been to the Garden District several times, but never had a tour as interesting and enjoyable. And personalized! We passed a couple of huge groups crowded on the sidewalk and I was so glad we were able to be close to our guide and hear her with ease. The tour met at a bakery right by a streetcar stop (easy to get to from the French Quarter) and finished in front of Commander's Palace. The two hours went by quickly, and we actually had so many questions that we went overtime. Perfect both for first-time and returning visitors.

James was GREAT! Very knowledgeable, major facts and trivial tidbits. He made asking questions feel comfortable AND welcome. We walkef and talked and learned and LAUGHED! (Ask him to tell you about Sandy)I'm a Louisiana native but my friends are from CA. We all learned things and had a great time. Anytime I have friends come for a visit, I will request James.

You must have had James as your guide! He really is so funny and finds a great story behind each lovely Garden District mansion. He notices things other guides don't see, diligently researches it, then finds the best little details to tell his lucky guests! I hope you are able to come and tour with James in the cemeteries next time. Libby

This was a great small group walking tour. Jackie was very friendly and knowledgeable. The houses in this area are so beautiful, but are even more interesting with the history and stories from a guide. I would definitely recommend this walking tour.
