Spend a day in 'La Serenissima,' the city of bridges and canals, on this action-packed guided day trip to Venice from Milan. After meeting with your host in the center of Milan, hop in a comfortable coach for the 2.5-hour ride. During the journey, learn about the history of Venice or just gaze out the window at the Northern Italian countryside.

Arrive in Venice and get ready for an informative guided 2-hour walking tour. Amble over bridges and along canals. Stand in front of Renaissance palaces and learn their history. Take in the aromas of delicious Venetian fare wafting out of restaurants. Stroll along Riva degli Schiavoni, one of the city's main promenades, and then pass by the legendary Bridge of Sighs connected to the Doge's Palace. Let your guide regale you with tales of the doges of centuries past, as you perambulate into St. Mark's Square.

Stop for some photos in the pigeon-filled square. Stand in front of St. Mark's Basilica, noting its intricate facade. And don't forget to gaze up at the bell tower, a symbol of Venice. Then make your way through the narrow streets again, going over the famed Rialto Bridge, continuing along the Grand Canal to admire the grand mansions that flank the canal.

Visit some lesser-known hidden gems in Venice too! Explore the calli, a maze-like warren of narrow lanes and canals and learn about what life is like here for locals.

Take a break for lunch (at own expense) and then visit a glass-making workshop near St. Marks Square to witness skilled glassmakers plying their trade. After browsing in the gift shop and considering taking a souvenir back to Milan with you, head out on the narrow streets again, making your way for the optional 30-minute gondola ride (at your own expense) through the canals of the city. If you opt for the gondola, hop on the flat-bottomed boat, sit back and enjoy the only-in-Venice ambience.

When the time comes, return to your coach and begin the journey back to Milan.

  • "The time you spent in Venice is limited due to the long driving, so spending almost 1 hour to get to the factory and listen to the selling speech to make you buy expensive glasses its a waste of time."
  • "Maybe reduce 'city tour' to 20 minutes; extend time on land and allow more time for exploring." See review

Incredible, for a day trip to Venice.

The trip was totally worth any money spent! The pick up from Milan is early, but you get to sleep on the bus for about 3 hours if you wish to. There’s a pit stop half way through for breakfast and bathroom. Just enough time to recharge, and get ready for the rest of the day. The tour guide was very informative, and provided us with lots and lots of interesting facts about the area we were passing on a way to Venice, as well as the actual city of Venice. Once in Venice, we had to get a different tour guide, as only those accredited to work in Venice can be tour guides there. She was very nice too, lead the trip in a right paste, provided awesome information about the history of the city, and the current life there. There was about 2 hours free time that my husband and I spent exploring the biggest bridge, as well as the Cathedral. Make sure to pay the extra euro, and go on top of the Cathedral to see the square from atop!! Totally worth the extra 5 euros or so! Be advised, that the gondola ride organized by the tour guide is a shared ride. My husband and I were super disappointed by that, since we though we were going to be alone on the boat enjoying the most romantic city in the world with just each other, not some six more strangers from the group. Either way, we are easy go lucky kinda people, and that by any means did not spoil our overall experience in the city. The glassblowing presentation is kinda neat, but their prices are out of this world, so save yourself some precious time, and just dart through the gift shop, and out to the city to enjoy it!!! All in all, an amazing experience, and we would highly recommend it to friends and family!

Long day, but Venice is well worth seeing

Organisation could've been better on the morning of the tour as it seemed to take an age to get everybody checked in and on board the bus, but aside from that the day was well run. It was interesting to hear from the guide the reasons why Venice was built in the first place, and experience this canal city was a highlight of our trip. The day felt longer than what was indicated; however we did strike evening traffic which delayed us by an hour.

My second time in Venice

This is my second time to Venice and I am still using local tour, as I believe the arrangement will be better. Not disappointing me, a comfortable coach, good guide and appropriate arrangement. 3 hour for one side travel time and consider alternative with Treno cost and time, I still choose this tour. The guide on both time explain the history of Venice and Milano. So it is worthy !!!! Only disadvantage is very earily assemble which is 07:00am at the Milano tourist Centre. The I ternary improved and can arrive at Milano at 07:00pm to 07:30pm approximately. Nearby have Metro and public transport making hotel returning easier.

We really enjoyed this trip. Meeting point was easy to find. The tour was organized and ran smoothly from beginning to end. Serena was a terrific guide and Moritzio a wonderful driver. We enjoyed the tour of Venice and the free time walking around on our own. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Sofia was our guide getting to Venice but then Chiara took over. Both ladies were great. Tour seemed rush once in Venice due to long travel time. You really need a few days to see Venice. We did enjoy a gondola ride and watched a glass blower plus has some free time to shop.

you need to see Venice, but 7.5-8 hours...

you need to see Venice, but 7.5-8 hours on a bus with no restroom is not the way to get there and back. what you really receive is a two hour walking tour, a ten minute glass blowing demonstration and a 20 minute sales pitch on the glass. A waste of time for me. the guide for the walking tour was more interesting in staying in the shade than she was in showing us anything special, and the main tour guide was not very helpful. I wouldn't do it again.

We enjoyed this trip to Venice once we...

We enjoyed this trip to Venice once we had free time. Our local tour guide was a little pessimistic during the walking tour, always mentioning how Venice is sinking because it had too many tourists in front of an entire group of tourists. Our tour leader was pretty cool though. He was humorous, and because I was pregnant and it was hot, he let me and my husband skip the glass-blowing tour so we can grab lunch. We had a total of a little over 4 hours to roam around Venice. Gondola rides were 20 Euros per person because it was peak season. We skipped it.

Venice is beautiful - need more time, less bus ride

Love the city itself however, 'city tour' provided little value/information; bus ride was too long for the short visit in the actual city. By the time you do the 'walk tour'; glass tour; and gondola you barely had time to eat least of all visit anything or do sight-seeing. Maybe reduce 'city tour' to 20 minutes; extend time on land and allow more time for exploring. Quality of mic and devices for tour listening were poor.
