Find your way to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, located just minutes walking distance from the Piazza Duomo in Milan.

Proceed inside with your general admission ticket, which gives you access to the Codex Atlanticus exhibit as well as the museum's permanent collection. Get an intimate look inside the inner workings of master artist Leonardo da Vinci's mind through viewing pages from his personal notebook, filled with notes and sketches from the period between 1478 and 1519. The entire notebook is more than 1,000 pages long and resides in the museum's library. The pages on display are rotated regularly.

See paintings from other legendary masters, such as Botticelli’s 'Madonna del Padiglione,' Titian’s 'Adoration of the Magi,' Raphael’s 'Cartoon for the School of Athens,' and Caravaggio’s 'Basket of Fruit.'
Stop At:
Pinacoteca Ambrosiana
Make your way to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, just five minutes away from the famous Piazza Duomo.  With your entry ticket in hand, you'll step straight inside the museum to enter the exhibit of the Codex Atlanticus: Leonardo da Vinci’s personal collection of drawings and notes.  Offering insight into the creative mind of the Renaissance artist and inventor, the exhibit showcases select pages from the collection, and these are rotated regularly. If you want to see the rest — the Codex Atlanticus has more than 1,000 pages — head to the museum’s library. Your admission ticket grants access to all the main areas of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.  Explore its halls to see works of art by Botticelli, Titian, Raphael, and more. Caravaggio’s Basket of Fruit, a still-life painting, is just one of the highlights.   How long you stay inside the museum is up to you. The recommended visit time is 1.5 hours.

All that was in the exhibition was great, but there was so little of Da Vinci’s on display. I thought there was going to be more.

The Codex Atlanticus is marvelous but its worth only to see the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. The Sacristia Del Bramante is expensive and very quick, not worth it!

Had hoped for more. Viator made it seem like it included the Last Supper-which it didn't. Still worthwhile especially if you're looking to beat the heat or the rain. Disappointing in that it is all in Italian-not a word of English, so buy the audio accompanier. Allow 2-3 hrs.

Despite it being rushed for me and my mom, (on our end) I saw the whole museum in less than two hours. We had walked to the museum, and was a little confusing trying to find the actual da Vinci site. We had found the back of the building first then we had to walk around to the actual front finally locating entrance. I bought an audio with headset for about 3 euros, and they give you a Samsung phone which tells you about each room. The paintings are gorgeous, and the place is pretty big. Bring comfy shoes, and a backpack if you're carrying water and such for all the tours. A sweater would be good just in case. Thank you!
