While the Yarra Valley is most famous for its premium wines, beer lovers have much to celebrate with the growing popularity of craft breweries that pepper the Yarra Valley Cider and Ale Trail. Meet your guide for this tasty tour in Federation Square in the late morning, and settle into a comfortable air-conditioned coach for the scenic 1-hour drive to the Yarra Valley.

The exact itinerary will vary depending on the day and season, but you can expect to stop at five unique breweries known for their friendly service and top-notch taste. At each stop, learn about the brewing process and get tasting tips from your knowledgeable guide.

At Napoleone Ciders, taste ciders made from estate-grown fruit using methods inspired by this craft producer’s winemaking background. Taste lively, crisp ciders made with apple and pear at St Ronan’s Cider, plus fruit-flavored wine and sweet, jewel-colored port. Get a taste of Yarra Valley history at Buckley’s Beer, the oldest brewery in the region, as you sample quality brews at the solar-powered outpost.

When hunger strikes, head to Hargreaves Hill for a savory lunch. Start off with a tasting paddle of house made, European-style beers, and then pick your favorite for a full glass to accompany your meal. Later on, pay a visit to Coldstream Brewery for a sampler flight of seasonal ciders and a pub snack, and enjoy a tasting at either Riders Beer or the Public Brewery.

Feeling fully satisfied from your tasting extravaganza, relax on the return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at the original departure point in the late afternoon.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Watts River Brewing
This is one of the best tasting experiences you will ever have. Quality, variety, quantity (hehe!) and a lot of laughs will be at what is often our first stop in the morning. Let's just say that by the time we leave there is usually a noticable increase in chatter as we roll on to stop two...

Coldstream Brewery
Coldstream Brewery is our regular lunch stop on our Yarra Valley tour because they are exceptional! A brewpub with indoor and ourdoor areas in the suburb of Coldstream serving hearty gourmet meals washed down with the Yarra Valley's best beer, wine, cider and spirits. So good.

Stop At:
Alchemy Distillers
Alchemy are some of our very best mates and we love stopping in here on tour. These guys have made amazing gins, vodkas, whisky, rum, liquors and everything fun and boozy inbetween. We have a taste, stay for a drink and usually nose around for some special splashes for us to try. We choose at least 4 stops to visit every day to create the best tour possible for each group.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Badger Creek Blueberry Farm
St Ronan's Cider @ Badger Creek Blueberry winery is basically a super band. Multiple really talented people got together and created a side project making regular and champagne ciders, blueberry wines, ports, sparklings, moscato, cocktails and icecream only for it to become some of the most awarded products in Australia. Amazing work! We like to have a massive tasting here, followed by cheese boards and more drinks. The icecream is a treat in summer (or winter!!).
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Four Pillars Distillery
Four Pillars is a true Aussie success story and it is because they are exceptional in everything that they do. Amazing venue, great staff and world class gin that has brought some of the worlds top spirit prizes home to Australia. We usualy recommend a tasting followed by a drink or two because we are paying! We don't visit Four Pillars on busy days as doesn't fit into our cruise at our own pace, get served quickly, don't line up for things vibe that we get going.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Punt Road Wines
Sumptuous wines, beer and cider available, cheese boards, bocce court, live music. That's it. Just all those outstanding things (and hopefully a little sunshine)! We visit four stops on each tour depending on the day, group and what we think will be awesome.

The Public Brewery
Drink like the locals in Melbourne do! Live music, a cute little beer garden, great pub nibbles and the best bottle shop we know. We love stopping in at the Public Brewery and you will too! We pick four of the best stops we can visit for your particular tour.

Paul was a great tour guide and proved his credentials as a cicerone. The day went very smoothly with great company. The selection of venues offered a great variety of ciders and beers as well as some surprises.

Thought this might be a little different from the wine tours and I was not disappointed everything from the morning safety briefing to tasting and learning the facts about beer and cider was funny, amazing and the tasting samples were not just a couple of mouth fulls but nearly half a glass. Kick off the morning driving from Federation Square out to the first stop for the day our guide, Paul, was sharing fun facts and making everyone feel welcome in the group. Lunch was amazing where the tasting continued. Would recommend this for anyone that wants to do something different and have a bit of fun.

This was a fun tour! Scott did a great job of getting all of us to learn a little bit about on another. We had a small group of 7 or 8 and ended up having a wonderful day. Scott had a lot of information to share about Yarra Valley, each of the breweries we visited and the liquor industry in general. His witty comments and humorous stories made for a relaxing and enjoyable tour. We don't see much cider in the United States so we were surprised at how many cider samples were provided at each of the breweries. However the tasting paddles had 6-8 sizable samples so we had plenty of beer, too. The gin distillery was fun, too, and they gave us four generous samples. Fun day!!

This was one of the highlights from my trip in August 2015. We were a small group and it was so much fun. Great guide, awesome food, and I found beer I like! Although I am still more of a cider lover!
