Traveler pickup is offered
Pickup is only available from the list of hotels provided upon checkout.

Your pickup will be between 10am-11am (June-August) & 11am-12pm (September-May), depending on which hotel you selected. Your exact meeting time will be provided after a booking is placed.

This tour returns to Melbourne between 9pm-12am midnight depending on the season.

Your Phillip Island adventure begins with late morning pickup at selected Melbourne hotels in an air-conditioned minivan equipped with onboard Wi-Fi. Your first stop on your Phillip Island day trip is Brighton to see the historic Brighton Beach bathing boxes, spend time at the beach and take some time to admire these iconic landmarks.

Continue to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, where you'll learn about an exotic array of Australian animals, including cuddly koalas, and lend a hand during feeding time. Included in your visit here is the spectacular “Conservation in Action” wildlife show, which showcases a number of lesser-known Australian species in a series of interactive and engaging ranger presentations.

Afterward, head to the island’s southwestern coast for dramatic views of the Nobbies and Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest fur seal colony.

For an enchanting finale to the day, make your way to a local beach for the famous Penguin Parade. As dusk falls, watch from a viewing platform as hundreds of adorable little penguins — also called fairy penguins, as these are the smallest in the world — emerge from the ocean and waddle across the sand and shrub to their nearby burrows. Opt for the Penguin Parade Plus or Guided Ranger Tour upgrade for an even closer view of this marvelous spectacle (see Itinerary below for more details).

Once the penguins are safely tucked into their burrows for the night, relax on the approximately 1.5-hour return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off back at your departure point.

Great Experience

Our guide, Corey, was very knowledgeable and we were impressed with the prompt pickup at a hotel about a block from where we were staying. We always had a clear understanding of what to expect at each of our stops including what time we needed to be back to the bus. We especially appreciated the outline of when we'd have opportunities to eat and the fact that we could order food at the animal sanctuary in advance. The stops along the way to Philip Island were nice and helped to break up the long drive, but the real highlights were seeing the Nobbies and, of course, the Penguin Parade. We're glad we opted for the ranger tour because we learned a lot from our guide, Michael, and appreciated the special viewing area for our group. There were only 6 people in our tour. It was great to learn about the conservation work being done on the island to protect the penguins and other native species. Watching the penguins come in from the ocean was a truly magical experience that we would highly recommend.

Long but very enjoyable tour. Phillip Island was wonderful - really enjoyed seeing the penguins and Mike C, our guide, gave us great tips for where to go to get the best views during the parade of the penguins. Brighton Beach and the Moonlit Sanctuary were also great - lots of animals and very active. A long day but well worth it! Mike was a great host and guide. Highly recommend.

Magical Penguins

This trip was absolutely magical- the penguins being the highlight of course! We paid for the guided ranger walk and talk and it was worth every penny! She was so excited! And so knowledgeable! And the seating was prime location to where the penguins come out of the ocean. One little fellah went rogue and came straight towards me and waddled under my seat for a shortcut LOL It was a wonderful night. I was really frustrated with the stupid people taking photos when we had been explicitly told that the penguins have very sensitive eyes. I would have LOVED a picture but followed the rules. They should be thrown out and made to delete their pictures. We loved this trip! Words cannot describe how beautiful these little creatures are. We also saw other wildlife on the reserve especially wallaby’s.

Incredible day in Melbourne

Our guide Paul took us on a wonderful tour of Melbourne, specifically Brighton Beach, Moonlit Sanctuary and Phillip Island. This small group tour was much preferred over the large group tours that the cruise ship offered. Paul gave us so much information about Melbourne and Australia. We saw so much beautiful scenery and Paul allowed for just the right amount of time at each photo opportunity. Unfortunately, it rained the evening of the penguin journey and because of lightning, the viewing had to be delayed because of safety concerns, but we were still able to view, for a short period, a few of the penguins make their way to their burrows. An incredible experience. I highly recommend this tour if you visit Melbourne.

I just want to give Alex a shoutout! He was really good and was keeping everybody alive and making sure everybody is enjoying the trip. It was a small group tour so it was really nice. This tour is a must when visiting Melbourne. The Penguin Parade is a mesmerizing experience, ti get your money’s worth, I recommend to get the VIP or the Ranger Guided tour. It’s so worth it.

Fourth visit to Phillip Island, this time was the best

I was born in Melbourne but moved to the US when I was 4. As such, I visit family in Melbourne often and have gone to Phillip Island and the Penguin Parade multiple times. However, as a newlywed, I decided to do a guided tour with my wife and the trip with Sarah and the Magic Bus was well worth the experience. Despite being a 12 hour day, no point was boring, and we got to see many things I've never seen before (wild wallabees, wild echidnas, surfers, and a guided ranger tour of penguins). I learned much more on this trip than any other visit and Sarah is a wonderful guide. I highly recommend doing the guided ranger tour as I feel we had a better view of the penguins. The new penguin parade facility/museum is amazing as well.

best way to see everything in a day

One of the best tours I have ever taken. It is a long day but well worth it. Wish there was less time at the Nobbies and dinner and more time at the brighten beach boxes and Moonlit sanctuary. But it is a fun day with a lot to see. The Penguins are the best! Make sure to pay extra for the rangers tour worth every penny.

Goodles day out

A great day out with a great driver/guide. Glength was informative guide and a good safe driver. The Moonlit Sanctuary was a bit disappointing as we were there in the heat of the day and the animals were resting but the little show was good. The Penguins were a delight. It was a long day but we'll worth it.

Up close with penguins

We really enjoyed the Phillip Island Penguin parade. We stood on a boardwalk that was only about 2 feet from these adorable little guys. It was in February so they were close to the time when they molt all their feathers at once. Because of this, they had some extra weight on them. They were adorable. A few of them were so heavy that they would only "walk" a few feet at a time and then flop onto their bellies to rest.
