Provence Villages & Carrieres de Lumieres Day Trip from Marseille

Meet your guide and small group of up to 8 people in central Marseille in time for an 8am departure. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned minibus, set out on the around 1-hour journey to Arles, winding through the idyllic landscapes of Provence.

On arrival, follow your guide on a walking tour of the UNESCO-listed city. Learn more about Arles’ Roman past as you explore the remarkably preserved ruins of the ancient Arena and the Theater, then peek into the medieval Saint-Trophime church. Along the way, pay a visit to the Van Gogh café, immortalized in his iconic painting ‘Café Terrace at Night’, and see the hospital where the artist stayed after infamously cutting off part of his ear.

Continue in the footsteps of Van Gogh to Saint-Remy de Provence and visit the hospital of Saint Paul de Mausolee, where he stayed in 1889. Enjoy free time to stroll the historic village, browse the shops for souvenirs, and tuck into lunch (own expense) at one of the typical Provencal restaurants.

The final stop of the day is in Baux de Provence, one of the most striking of Provence’s hilltop villages and boasting incredible views over the surrounding countryside. Here, you can choose to explore the village and admire the 10th-century fortress, or walk through the Carrières de Lumières (entrance fees not included), a unique light and art show, displaying notable Renaissance artworks on the walls of a former quarry.

Back in Marseille, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 4pm.
