A must-do for foodies! Get caught up in the sensory overload of Marrakech as you wander its most famous square with a guide who'll help you find the hidden gems amid the madness. Sample fascinating local specialties before finishing the evening with a delicious traditional dinner.

Start your Moroccan culinary adventure when you meet your knowledgeable guide at Djemaa El Fna, the main square of Marrakech’s medina, in the early evening.

Hear a lowdown of what’s ahead and take time to absorb the dizzying square — declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2001. In the evenings, Djemaa El Fna takes on a livelier persona as it fills with prettily lit hot food stands and crowds who come here for their nightly strolls and snacks.

Wander around the square, and then explore some of the side streets to discover food stops often missed by visitors. Try some of the wares on offer, including nuts, olives and other specialities, and continue to a poultry and beef market to watch the locals barter for meat. Haggling is integral to Moroccan life and seeing the deals being made provides a fascinating insight into local culture.

Delve into a spice market as your guide recounts how Morocco was an important spice-trading center, and view the rainbow-colored products such as saffron, paprika, cardamon, anise and turmeric. Learn how they’re used to enliven tagines and other staples, and stroll on to a bustling souk.

Pause to sample typical Moroccan breads such as msemen and beghrir — fluffy Berber pancakes — and if you wish, try more challenging delicacies such as sheep’s head, cow’s hoof or snail soup, known as ghoulal.

Lastly, visit a restaurant on Djemma El Fna just as the evening reaches its height. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal with your group as you take in the square with its peddlers, snake charmers and entertainers.

Your 3.5-hour food tour ends after your meal. Leave your guide and either return to your hotel or continue your evening out independently.

A night in Marrakech
, Oct 2021
Our guide met us at our hotel and we began our walking food tour. We ate a lot of local foods - donuts, peppermint tea, soup, tanjine, coffee, and saw the market at night. Personally I think it’s expensive for the food we ate. Our guide Jihad, was pleasant and knowledgeable about the area and customs.
Phenomenal tour. Ali was a brilliant guide
, Oct 2021
Completely blew my mind! I wasnt expecting it to be THAT good. Ali took us on a journey of food I had not experienced before. Ali is the best guide I had while in Marrakech. So warm, humble and took care of us. He was so well versed in the Moroccan history in food, culture and religion. And answered our questions so thoroughly. He levitated our trip to Marrakech, we had plenty of laughs. Ali recommended places to buy spices, salts and teas, I've been back to those for some more as it was that good. I'm so happy I booked this tour, was so memorable for me and my husband. We will booking our next tour with Ali.

Crazy, fun bike tour with food!
, Mar 2020
This tour was alot better than we thought it was going to be. Although be warned, biking through the crowds and narrow alleyways in the souks was very challenging but fun and we really enjoyed it! Younnes was a fantastic guide he kept us safe and gave us information about the city and the different foods which we tried along the way. He even went out of his way his way at the end of the tour to redirect us back to the Medina. Thanks for a great tour!

A tour through Marrakech’s busy market with introduction to Moroccan specialties. Great experience walking with a knowledgable guide, showing us through complex alleys only the local know. My mother does not speak English, but still had a great time with wonderful people to walk around the market. Thank you so much for the memorable experience Mohamed!

This was a perfect way to begin our trip. We tried such a variety of traditional food from olives to soups to tangina to snails and sweets! Our guide was full of great knowledge, tips and stories and did a great job integrating six Australians and Europeans with two of us and making it so much fun!
