Escape the tourist crowds on Mallorca and try something a bit more active during this day trip walking amidst the island’s rugged Mediterranean mountains. Trek through historic villages and enjoy panoramic island vistas on your way to a hidden beach known only to locals. You’ll celebrate your trip with an included seaside picnic lunch of tasty Mallorcan foodstuffs.
  • Explore the mountains, tiny villages and hidden beaches of Mallorca on 'off-the-beaten path' hiking trip
  • Explore the Arab-influenced architecture of idyllic small villages like Serra Tramuntana
  • Dig into an included picnic lunch of Mallorcan treats like ‘cocas de trampó' and ‘empandas’ served on the beach
  • Great way to see a different side of Mallorca away from the usual tourist spots
Begin your hiking trip from a departure point in central Palma in the morning. You’ll travel by local bus to the starting for the hike, walking along a historic trail once used by local postmen to travel between Mallorcan villages. The walk is fairly easy and follows a well-marked trail.

Continue to put one foot in the front of the other as you admire the mountain scenery. As you walk, you’ll stop to enjoy mountain views and listen as your guide shares details about the island’s native plants. Soon you’ll arrive in the village of Serra Tramuntana, a hamlet known for its Arab-influenced architecture and rich traditions as a farming community.

The hike then proceeds to a hidden beach favored by Mallorcan locals. While most tourists content themselves with the massive strips of sand found along the island’s south, this smaller shore offers a more intimate, Mallorcan feel. Cool off from the hike by enjoying the sea and the sun, and dig into a tasty beach-side picnic of typical Mallorcan delicacies. You’ll enjoy dishes like ‘cocas de trampó,’ and ‘empandas,’ finishing off the meal with typical sweets like ‘gató’ with almonds and ‘ensaimadas.’ The food comes from a historic island bakery, ensuring an authentic culinary experience.

Depending on the time of year, you might finish your visit with a swim. Even during the colder winter months, this secluded stretch of coast is still perfect for soaking up a few rays of sun. In the afternoon you’ll board another local bus which will return you back to Palma.

Serra de Tramuntana
Pssst… it's a secret. The true beauty of Mallorca is actually hidden to most tourists, who spend all their time on the busy beaches that everyone knows. Instead of following the crowds, you're keeping it super-local on this Mallorca tour that shows you where to find the real beauty that only locals know. Tag along as you trek out to a unique corner of the island, far beyond the massive beaches of the south.  You’ll meet in town, then take a comfortable local bus to reach the beginning of our walk. From there, the trail you’ll follow is a historical path, once used by postmen to go from one village to another. As you walk, you’ll learn about native Mediterranean plants, and stop to admire the panoramic view from a mountaintop. You’ll land in the historical village of Serra Tramuntana and discover Arabic influences in the local architecture and agricultural traditions.  You’ll then arrive at a hidden beach — well, hidden to the tourists, that is! Locals love to go here, and you’ll join them as you soak up the sun and sea, and dig into a delicious lunch of typical Mallorcan food and drinks, such as empanadas and cocas de trampò. You’ll also dig into some delicious desserts such as ensaimada or a gatò with almonds... delicious! All of these treats come from the village’s historic bakery, and locals love them — you’ll love them, too!  In the summer months, you can work off your lunch with a dip in the sea; in winter, just lie out in the sun and soak up that easy Mediterranean vibe.  In the afternoon, you’ll again board the local bus to take us back into Palma, where you’re free to explore on your own.  Note that this walk is fairly easy and along a marked trail. The walk will take about three hours (including stops), with elevations of 300 metres up and almost 400 metres down.

Sweet local experience - an unforgettable memory

We truly enjoyed this hiking trip thanks to the warm and charming attitude of our excellent guide, Maria Laura, who played a role in creating a superb atmosphere within a small and cozy international group of travellers. She was an anthropologist at heart, who knew a lot about the natural and cultural environment and the scenery was absolutely amazing. We also enjoyed the delicious local food and the swim at the end of the trip was marvellous. We will surely return.
Lovely Tour! Must do if in Mallorca!

My sister and I loved this tour! We enjoy physical activity and after a week of eating ham and drinking cava in Barcelona, this was an amazing and engaging experience! Our guide Andrea was very friendly and knowledgeable about the towns that we visited (starts in Esporles and ends in Banyalbufar). The food from the bakery was great and we had some lovely sweets on the beach for dessert. The complimentary drink is had at a cute cafe with a wonderful view of the sea from the patio. The hike is manageable for most if not all fitness levels and the swim at the beach is very refreshing! I recommend this trip to anyone who is in Mallorca for a holiday and wants to see one of the costal villages up in the north, especially if you don’t have time to see them all. The tour ends early enough that you can do something else in the evening when you return to Palma.

Our guide Kathrin picked us up at Placa Espana and we went by local bus to Esporles. There we went to a local bakery and picked up our lunch and off we went. It was a fantastic experience to hike on paths through forests and to enjoy fantastic views over mountains and the blue mediterranian sea. Kathryn, originally from Germany, spoke excellent english and had great knowledge about the local flora as well as history and traditions. We learnt a lot about the ancient life and struggles of the mallorquin people. We can warmly recommend this hike! Lotta and Rebecca

Andreas was a great guide, friendly and good conversation on a beautiful hike on an old stone road through forests. Very tasty food bought from a local bakery and the reward of a glass of local wine overlooking the ocean at the end. Highly recommended.

This was a very nice hike, with an amazing view at the end! Marialaura was a fantastic guide she also does tapas tours, and some others. She made contact with me via WhatsApp shortly after booking to make sure I had all the info I needed, and even took me out solo because I couldn't align my schedule with tours that already had people on it. It was very fun hanging out with her, and although the hike is long about 6 miles, it is not too difficult. Would definitely recommend booking this!
