Make your way to the Kentucky Derby Museum at the Churchill Downs Racetrack, where you can present your voucher for admission to the museum and grounds. Follow the history and culture of the derby at your own pace: exhibits include trophies and artifacts from some of the Kentucky Derby’s greatest winners, a selfie-ready reproduction of the ‘Winners Circle,’ and an 18-minute, 360-degree, immersive movie about the Kentucky Derby called ‘The Greatest Race.’

At 30 minutes past the hour, you’ll have the chance to join a guided walking tour of the Churchill Downs racetrack. Follow a guide through the track where racing’s most famous jockeys have ridden horses such as Secretariat, Barbaro, Big Brown, California Chrome, and American Pharaoh to big, memorable wins.

Adjacent to the Kentucky Derby Museum are the Finish Line Gift Shop and the Derby Café, which celebrates the derby with Kentucky fare like mint juleps and hot browns.
Stop At:
Kentucky Derby Museum
Located in Louisville, the Kentucky Derby is one of America’s most exciting horse racing events in the world and takes place at Churchill Downs Racetrack. It is the first leg of the American Triple Crown and is known as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports" because of the actual duration of the race.  Some like to call the race "The Run for the Roses" for the blanket of roses draped over the Derby winner. When you visit, you will enjoy a self-guided tour of the Kentucky Derby Museum, which includes two levels of family-friendly interactive permanent & temporary exhibits.  Ten minutes past each hour, you will have the opportunity to see "The Greatest Race," an 18-minute movie about the Kentucky Derby and its history, a story that puts you right in the heart of the first Saturday of May.  Immediately following "The Greatest Race" and at 30-minutes past every hour, you will experience an exhilarating 30-minute guided walking tour of historic Churchill Downs Racetrack and witness where some of the most famous teams of jockeys and Thoroughbreds competed such as Secretariat, Barbaro, Big Brown, California Chrome and the most recent Triple Crown winner in 2015- American Pharoah.

We knew we were going to be late and tried calling multiple times to verify we could go later. No one ever answered or returned calls. The website said it was open until 5:30. However, due to traffic and construction, we did not get there until a few minutes before 5. We were informed that it close at 5pm and we could not see anything. They were pretty short with us.

Great tour! No line to skip but maybe because it's off season. I wish they had more secretariat stuff but it was a great experience. Worth every penny.

We are not necessarily into horses, but it was definitely a fantastic experience to see the world famous Kentucky Derby museum. It was really interesting to learn about the history of horse racing and we really enjoyed the walking tour through the race track. We highly recommend it.

Upon arrival for the museum, I was told there was a private engagement, so my ticket was cancelled. I requested a refund but don't see the credit on my account , as yet.
