WOW... Worth every Penny

This was one of the best walking tours, I have ever been on. If you want a walking tour with a personal touch, a great tour guide who tells it from the heart, who knows the area very well and tells you more stories than just a basic history and is willing to answer questions and give you extra time in great conversation- this tour is for you. The area is beautiful and the guided tour is well run and very easy to find as they literally find you. I did my tour on a miserable wet day and I didnt care about the rain as this tour and the guide was so riveting and engrossing with his stories of the Troubles, The Bogside and Bloody Sunday. Worth every Penny... One not to miss.

Can’t recommend John’s tour enough. His own personal connections to the history of the area made our experience all the more engaging. He’s a great conversationalist and his knowledge on the subject matter is undisputed. It’s important that any visitor to Derry knows his story and that of his late brother and the others who died on Bloody Sunday. Outstanding.

John gave a tour to my friend & I. He was a really pleasant and engaging man. We learned more from him in one hour than in all the history we learned in school. He delivered the tour in a really interesting & interactive manner. To have seen his brother murdered on Bloody Sunday was undoubtedly a life changing event for him. He delivers the tour in a balanced manner and it is sobering to be in the presence of such a humane person. This tour was the highlight of my first trip to Derry & it is a must to do.

Bloody Sunday walking tour - Simply excellent.

Arrived in Free Derry and were met, on the dot, by our guide John. He was kind, cheerful, knowledgeable and fascinating to listen to from the start. The tour was A-grade. John was a great communicator and as he spoke we could easily picture the terrible events he was describing. By the end of the tour John had brought to life over forty years of Derry history. A masterful job. Immensely enjoyable. 5 stars.

This tour was a wonderful history lesson with a knowledgeable, passionate guide with a personal connection to Bloody Sunday. I never knew the details of this period, as the news in the States seemed to only give the English side of events.

If you are remotely considering visiting the Museum of Free Derry then you MUST do a tour with John beforehand. His insight, knowledge and willingness to answer questions and share his knowledge of the history of the Derry Troubles is second to none. John is passionate and informative. His firsthand experience of this horrific moment in history enables him to peel back the history and portray a raw insight into the life of the survivors. John is much more than a tour guide, he is the epitome of a life history lesson. Our time with John was scheduled for an hour and we spent nearly 2 hours with him. Our thanks to John for sharing his time and knowledge
