Make your own way to the Tower of London and meet your guide. Then, start your London tour by heading inside this historical fortress-palace before the doors open to the general public.

Once inside, accompany your guide to meet up with one of the tower’s famous Beefeater guards. Your Beefeater will then take you on a guided tour of the complex, showcasing the highlights of this 11th-century building and its grounds.

As you explore, hear how the tower has served as a royal palace, fortress, prison and execution site, and be treated to the spectacle of the opening ceremony, where members of a military escort march around the tower with the Beefeaters to open the gates.

Stroll along the East Wall Walk for views down over London’s streets, head inside the haunting White Tower and look for the jet-black ravens that have strutted around the complex since the time of Charles II. The king believed that the tower would fall if the birds ever flew from the grounds. In addition, enter the Jewels House to ogle the Crown Jewels — the priceless symbols of Britain’s monarchy.

Having explored here, stroll to nearby St Paul’s Cathedral, the magnificent domed church designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1708. Head into the hushed Triforium, an area typically closed to the public but open to you.

Wander around to see high points, including the St Paul’s library or Geometric Staircase, familiar to movie fans from its starring role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Take in the wonderful views toward the nave, and then visit the Crypt and famous Whispering Gallery.

Your tour concludes at St Paul’s when you say goodbye to your guide.

Please note: The visit to Jewel House to see the Crown Jewels is self-guided.

St Paul's Cathedral sits on Ludgate Hill - one of the three ancient hills of London, and the highest point in the City of London. A place of worship dedicated to Saint Paul has stood on this site for more than 1,400 years; however, the present Cathedral as we know it today was built during the 17th century and designed by esteemed British architect Sir Christopher Wren as part of a major rebuilding programme after the Great Fire of London. This incredible Cathedral towered over London for over 250 years as the tallest building in the entire city until well into the 20th century. You will go behind locked doors to explore the Triforium area, as well as the stone gallery and the golden gallery with the experts guide. Viator VIP: Exclusive Access to Tower of London & St Paul's Cathedral - Do this tour!

Took the Viator VIP: Exclusive Access to Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral tour in September 2019. We were warmly greeted by our tour guide Trudy. She was incredibly energetic, enthusiastic and informative with her unlimited brain bag of facts and stories! Both the Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral are a MUST SEE. Loved the polar opposite aspect of this tour....from the dark Tower of London to the ethereal St Paul's Cathedral. Because we walked between the two main sites, there was so much to see in-between as well! The weather was wonderful, so it made the walk even more enjoyable. Early and special access to the sites were priceless! For so many reasons, this tour left me with splendid, unforgettable memories! Strongly recommend this journey! Thank you Trudy!!

Not As Advertised

The description of this tour gives the impression that a beefeater will be giving the tour, which is not true. A beefeater did briefly talk to us at the opening ceremony, but did not give the tour. Our giude gave the tour, which included the crown jewels, and was brief. We then were given time to look around. We liked our guide, who was knowledgeable.

Our guide, Norma, was very good. The skip the line to see the Crown Jewels was worth the cost. We enjoyed both venues and I would certainly go back to St. Paul's Cathedral again in a heart beat

Leslie our guide was a true professional- a Blue Badge guide. We spent all day with her and couldn’t get enough. Great details and access to the Tower of London to see the key ceremony and Crown Jewels. The walk to St. Paul’s was interesting, she even took us up the elevator at a nearby mall to see the skyline and St. Paul’s. The access to St. Paul’s was incredible. We were able to go behind the dome and receive a further description by Chris. We walked to the top at the end. Windy but stunning views!

Inaccurate information where tour leaves from

The information provided on the Viator website is incorrect. Do not go to Katherine’s Gift Wrap and do not go to the address provided either as that is the tour company address. I have pointed this out to Viator and they are apathetic. Only go to the main entrance of the Tower of London. If you go to Katherine’s or the address provided you will be driving all over London as Katherine’s is 20 minutes in traffic from the Tower of London

Worth it!

Our guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Getting in to the Tower early was worth every penny to be able to explore before the huge crowd starts to arrive. St. Paul was lovely but be aware the triforium is basically the attic.
