Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Book this exclusive tour to explore Stonehenge’s Inner Circle, which is typically off-limits to the public.
Select a morning or evening tour when you book. Then, depart central London by comfortable, air-conditioned coach and begin your tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge.
Visitors who arrive at the site during main daylight hours are only allowed to stroll the perimeter pathway around the monument, a route roped off from the stone circle. However, this ‘private viewing’ tour lets your group enter the roped-off circle of stones to see the monolithic blocks at truly close quarters.
Hear the fascinating facts and mysteries that surround the monument from your expert guide, and by enjoying the rarified atmosphere of the inner circle, experience the site at its magical best! With luck, and depending on the season, you may even visit during a sunrise or sunset, making the occasion extra special. See below for the morning or evening itinerary. Both tours conclude with a drop-off in central London.
Morning Tour: After seeing Stonehenge, continue to nearby Lacock: a quaint village dating to the 13th century. Stretch your legs on a guided walk around the pretty lanes, and see some of the locations used in the movie 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,' and a TV adaptation of 18th-century writer Jane Austen’s 'Pride and Prejudice.' Afterward, savor a hearty breakfast (own expense) at The George Inn, Lacock’s 14th-century pub, before venturing to the beautiful, UNESCO-listed city of Bath, famous for its Roman spa and Georgian architecture. Tour the well-preserved Roman Baths, built over natural hot springs; see Bath Abbey, and learn about Jane Austen’s connections to the city. If you wish, follow your guide to see where 19th-century author, Charles Dickens, once lived, and call at a dairy to taste some local cheese. Alternatively, use some free time to perhaps shop for gifts or view Bath’s highlights on your own.
Evening Tour: Leave London for Bath and visit the stunning Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, as set out in the morning itinerary. Then, drive on to postcard-worthy Lacock to amble around its historical streets. Later, sit down to dinner (own expense) at The George Inn, before journeying to Stonehenge for your ‘private viewing,’ after the daytime visitors have left.
This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Even though this was a group booking, there was plenty of time to explore on your own. Our guide Claudia was knowledgeable and very friendly. Our coach driver, Abby got us there and back safely in inclement weather. Overall, an unforgettable experience!! Highly recommend!
Peter and Nuno were an excellent guide and driver. Peter is very knowledgeable about everything you pass, and his humor is top notch. I highly recommend Peter and Nuno as a guide/driver combo if you can secure it. The inner circle access is completely awesome and a must do. It was a day I’ll never forget. Thanks Peter and Nuno!!!!
This tour was phenomenal. Peter, our tour guide, was top notch and Nuno, our driver got us everywhere safe and on time. The experience in Bath and the sunset at Stonehenge were the highlights. Our time at Stonehenge rendered the most beautiful sunset accompanied by several rainbows and it was truly a spiritual and unique moment. Definitely a highlight of my time in the UK.
The one thing I would consider changing is dinner at the George Inn. I understand it’s an old pub, but the meal was really sub-par and expensive. I know it’s voluntary so if you’re reading this and don’t want to spend a lot of money on some bland, not-great food, maybe opt out and just order a cider and enjoy the old-pub feel.
Maybe viator can find a better place for a meal on the tour?
Tour was great, pickup communications could have been better

This was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend for anyone visiting Stonehenge - our day was rainy and cold and it was STILL worth every minute to go into the inner circle! Our guide met a nice balance of using the bus ride to educate us and allowing us to sleep at 5:45am. Lacock was charming, although if I had to do it again I would have packed a breakfast and taken the time to explore the town. The time touring the Roman Baths was also very worthwhile.
My one complaint is that Viator told us to arrive for the bus pickup easily 30 minutes before we had to be there - we were told 4:50am, others arrived at 5:30, and the bus left at 5:40. Waiting outside at 5am in the rain was not the most fun.
Lovely tour, Frank, the guide was fantastic and Martin the driver was friendly and safe. The only reason I am NOT giving a 5 star rating is because The tour is called the sunrise tour which lead me to think we were going to be inside the Stonehenge Circle at sunrise. Other than that it was a pleasant experience Frank description along with my being a fan of the series “Outlander “ made me hope to be transported back in time, but as it may, you could not touch the stones, but being there in the circle was worth it alone - having the mystical and spiritual feeling of another time.
