Leave central London, busy with Boxing Day shoppers, by air-conditioned coach and journey west to your first stop: magnificent Windsor Castle, an official residence of Queen Elizabeth II.

Admire the charming medieval buildings of the town of Windsor, and see where William Shakespeare wrote his play 'The Merry Wives of Windsor.' View the plaque showing a copy of the death warrant for King Charles I’s execution, and then stroll the perimeter of Windsor Castle as your guide recalls its fascinating 1,000-year history.

Next, drive by Runnymede, where the Magna Carta—the 13th-century document that laid the foundations for English democracy—was signed, before continuing to UNESCO-listed Stonehenge, the 4,500-year-old monument that rises from Salisbury Plain.

On arrival, collect an audio-guide and explore this atmospheric site independently. Perhaps ride the shuttle or follow the paths to the monument, and gaze at the gigantic stones as you ponder how they were transported and raised here. Explore the visitor center that chronicles the stone circle's history and purpose through archaeological and audio-visual displays, and learn how most scholars believe it served as a temple aligned to the sun.

After a break for lunch, such as fish and chips, at a typical English pub; travel on to the quaint village of Lacock, one of England’s prettiest. Dating to the 13th century, this timeless village has starred in period TV drama adaptations such as Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice,' and movies such as 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.'

Afterward, head for the glorious spa city of Bath. Take a panoramic coach tour of top Bath attractions such as the Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge, and enjoy a short stroll around the handsome 18th-century Georgian houses, terraces and streets that were the backdrop to two Jane Austen novels: 'Northanger Abbey' and 'Persuasion.'

Lastly, return to London, where your trip ends near the starting point.

Please note: Windsor Castle and Bath’s Roman Baths are closed on Boxing Day.

This was a fabulous day. Alan, our tour guide, was really funny and charming, and David, our driver was really accommodating. We got to see a LOT and they even catered for the mad Whovians among us by pointing out a TARDIS in someone's front yard as we went through a sleepy English village. As it was Boxing Day, there were a few things which were closed eg. Windsor Castle, Roman baths in Bath, Bath Cathedral but we expected that. Alan and his umbrella was very easy to follow and he was an absolute font of information about all our ports of call. Absolutely worth doing this tour! Loved it!!
