do not miss BEFORE THE ROMANS: THE ETRUSCAN UNESCO SITE OF TARQUINIA

Our tour guide gave us a lot of information about the area and the sites we visited. She was articulate and passionate about her region. In addition to the Etruscan tomb site we also visited the town of Tarquinia - admired the views, 2 local churches and the local museum which had many beautiful examples of Etruscan pottery. Our tour guide also took us to her favorite restaurant and we had a lovely meal. We were warmly welcomed by the owners. As it happened my travel companion and I were the only clients registered for this tour and we had the opportunity to talk with our tour guide about the region and Italy as well as other subjects that interested us. As we were on a cruise, our tour guide assured that we arrived at the port on time for the next leg of our journey. I was happy that we did not go into Rome where other passengers on the cruise talked about rushing from one site to the next. We had more time to visit the site and spent some time in the countryside. For me this was the best excursion of my entire trip. I highly recommend this tour and this excursion company. You will not be disappointed!

Best way to see the ancient city of Tarquinia!

I'm so happy we took this tour. Our cruise docked in Civitavecchia and while our fellow passengers were boarding giant tour busses to Rome, we were met by our private tour guide and air conditioned van. Andrea was right on time and we found him easily just outside the port. He offered us water and loaded us into the van on our way to the Etruscan tombs. He talked about Etruscan history on the way and also spoke about his own life in Civitavecchia, a great personal touch. The city of Tarquinia is very impressive. I suspect most people pass it over when they dock here in order to go to Rome, but I'm so glad we stayed in town to see it. We stoped at a number of incredible churches, towers, museums, and monuments. Everything was included, including a lovely lunch with multiple courses and wine. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, you will not regret it!

Viatour's lack of organization rescued by local tour operator

We arrived at the meeting point in plenty time. When meeting time approached and there was no guide we called the local number and spoke with Andrea, the local tour operator. When he arrived a few minutes later, he showed us that he had no bookings from Viatour on his schedule. However, he quickly salvaged the situation and came up with a tour that included everything on the advertised tour. We had an informative, professional and overall excellent tour with his colleague Erna. The UNESCO site of Tarquinia with the Etruscan tombs was definitely worth the trip alone. What could have been a disaster because of Viatour turned into a highlight of our trip thanks to Andrea and Erna.

This tour was far and beyond our expections. The best kept secret in Civitavecchia. Living History with virtually no tourists, brilliant Museum. Andrea was a great guide who went out of his way to show us the wonders of Tarquini. Great value for money Arthur
