We arrived early just to check it was indeed the right shop. They offered to start our lesson early.Fabulous. Well a short 15 minutes after we sat at the wheel we were done. The instructor kind off did everything for us. I would rather that this was called an experience and not a lesson. It wasn't what we expected and I suspect that the group that arrived after us was the reason. It was a rather large group , and I think we made it easier for them when we allowed ourselves to be rushed through. Be aware the shipping fees for your piece are not included and they are okay. Not great , but okay. And make sure you know how much everything costs. It was genuinely an honest mistake but we were nearly charged again for our lesson. I would say the whole experience was okay, alright. I wouldn't recommend it but I wouldn't say not to go either.

Took ages to get confirmation. I had to do a follow-up. The location is hard to find despite being so near the Yasaka Pagoda. I had to ask the Kyoto Tourism Office in front of the Yasaka Pagoda to find it. And even they were a little confused as to where it could be found. It is only by process of elimination there are in fact 2 pottery lesson shops in the area that we all figured out where it was. The issue is really there is no sign in English at the door of the shop to indicate that it was the place you are looking for and when I stepped in the shop to ask. I stood at the entrance way for a a few minutes with no one attending to me as they were all busy attending to the people already in the shop. I realized it was a lost cause, just then and walked away. Find a better to thing to do and spend your money on while in Kyoto. There are plenty of options near and around the area.
