Meet your guide and group at a central location in Kyoto. From there, set off on foot in the direction of the Kamogawa River, stopping for some tastings along the way. Observe the locals relaxing on the terraces along the river, a traditional evening pastime in the area.

Head to Pontocho, an area traditionally known as a home to Geisha since the 16th century. Keep an eye out for Geisha walking between teahouses in their traditional kimonos, entertaining customers.

Next, walk to Gion, Kyoto's center of entertainment and traditional arts. The area is home to many invitation-only exclusive restaurants, tea houses, and traditional-style wooden buildings.

Once you reach your dining destination, sit down for a 10-course Kaiseki meal, during which you will learn about the Kaiseki tradition. Kaiseki typically incorporates a combination of seasonal ingredients, prepared to maximize the harmonious blend of the flavors.

A Fun and Lovely Evening!
Ginny M
, Nov 2019
Our guide Tomas was great! Despite not being Japanese, he passionately explained the making of geishas, the sweets we tasted, and finally the tradition of the Kaseiki dinner. All in the beautiful Gion district of Kyoto. A lovely evening well worth the cost.

This was a great tour, our guides Russ and G were excellent. The shops we were introduced to we would have never found without their knowledge, they made us so comfortable during the tour and so informative, would do this tour again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic tour! Highly recommend taking this. We enjoyed walking about Kyoto, learning about the history of the city and of course the food. The day we took the tour was not the best for the weather, it rained on us quite heavily, but that did not deter us from enjoying our time.

We had a wonderful night with Rosalia. With only my fiancé and I on the tour, it was a very intimate experience with plenty of time for us to ask questions. The walking tour was lovely and insightful. The meal was delicious and after having been in Japan for about 6 days, it was great to be able to ask all the questions we had built up thus far in our trip. We highly recommend this experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Even though it was raining, our tour guide Bernard kept it fun. We enjoyed the many sights as well as the insights into the area he shared with us. He even pointed out many Geisha, without him we probably would have missed them. The meal was delicious and we loved the traditional setting of the restaurant. We highly recommend both the tour and the tour guide Bernard.
