Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Begin with pickup at your Kuala Lumpur hotel, or at the Malaysia Tourist Centre, then travel to Kuala Selangor. Take a break along the way to see Fort Altingsburg at Bukit Melawati, where you get views of a hilltop lighthouse, and see a thriving population of silvered leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, and tropical birds.

Visit a nearby fishing village for a Malaysian-style seafood buffet, then continue to Kampung Kuantan, a launch point on the Selangor River. Travel along the river in a quiet, eco-friendly rowboat so you don’t disturb the fireflies, or kelip-kelip, and watch them glow in the evening air. Discover the fireflies’ mysterious synchronicity: though each firefly flashes at its own rhythm, the lights slowly align until thousands of bugs light up in unison, and coastal Malaysia is considered the best place in the world to see the phenomenon.

After your boat tour, return to shore for return transfer to your Kuala Lumpur hotel.

Fireflies

The driver was on time for pick up and very easy to talk do. He did a good job at explaining everything related to the tour. The meal called a seafood should be called a vegetarian one instead. No dessert, no napkins to clean your hands, this was disappointed. The rest of the tour was great.

Disappointed with tour
oemarina0726
, Jan 2020
Tour description was misleading and tour was overpriced. Description was of small boat and opportunities to take pictures of many fireflies. Boat was packed with over 40 people and never stopped and fireflies were scarce so no ability to take photos. Price was far too expensive so I would not recommend.

Thank You for leaving review and we are really very sorry that our services didnt touch your satisfiction mark. Your review will helps us to overview our services but the issue you pointouted is not comon as you can search our other reiews in which diffrent travelers shared there experiences with good comments as well as good rating. We always focus on our tour discription and provide crystal clean information to avoid any misleading concept. The boat selection is clearly optional, and there is breife discription about boats. We are very sorry again, and difinitly we will analyse the tour discription using your feeback to fulfill our weakness gap. Thanking You

Nice tour outside KL

Good guides, small group. The stop at the palace is nice and the lighthouse and monkey hill had great scenery although the monkeys are especially where the humans are (for the food). The remains of the fortress ar uphill behind the canons, but no signs. Diner was good. ´Fireflies´ was maybe the main purpose but for me the least attractive. Nice to cross the river in the dark in a boat, but at the bushes where the fireflies are you see small lights like a crtistmas tree for 10 minutes, that´s it.

Not worth the money and time

It was a nice experience, but a bit dissapointing for the price (expensive) and the time to get there from Kuala Lumpur. Only do this if you have plenty of time and nothing else to do.

Small group of 4 tourists was a plus for a very informative fun trip to see not only fireflies, but stop at Hindu temple and monkey hill, then onto a local seafood dinner at a beautiful riverside restaurant.

Fireflies weren't the highlight
Heather L

This was a good tour to get out of the city in a day. Our guide took us to several stops that we enjoyed, especially monkey hill. I wish we could have had more time there! The firefly tour was pretty quick, and since there was a lot of moonlight it was a bit harder to see than I imagined (not the tour's fault, but check the phase of the moon before you book if you are looking to see bright fireflies).

Kuala Selangor Firefly Tour Review
Jayson V
, Jul 2019
This tour had multiple trips prior to the actual Firefly tour. The trips that were prior to the Firefly tour were great. However, I think the actual firefly tour wasn't what I was expecting. Don't get me wrong though, but actually seeing them close-up was pretty cool. I believe this could have been substituted for something more of an interesting event.

One of a Kind Experience!
Climber52134666086

We truly enjoyed our tour with Nesan! His warm personality and quick humor made him an excellent tour guide. He emphasizes that his tours are spontaneous, so he brought us to see a Hindu temple and feed silver leaf monkeys on the way to Kuala Selangor, and to the King's Palace on the way back to KL. We had a great time at all of these locations! Additionally, he provided us with a Malaysian history lesson that was both informative and captivating. Once we arrived at the final destination, we had a tasty Chinese seafood feast and sipped on Tiger beer. The boat tour was peaceful and the fireflies lit up the bushes beautifully. The tour was an incredible experience and we enjoyed meeting our new friend Nesan!
