Itinerary
Stop At:
Stary Kleparz
For the best food shopping in Krakow, we recommend Stary Kleparz Market, located very close to the Old Town, just north of St. Florian’s Gate. Having run since the 18th century, this is the oldest and most colorful market in the city, where farmers bring fresh fruit and vegetables to sell daily. You will always find locals here looking for good bargains. Try some samples of fresh mountain cheeses, famous Polish sour cucumbers or sauerkraut, and locally made sweets.

Stop At:
Kraków
Local guide’s home: This is where you will get some cooking lessons from Krakow locals. You’ll be taught how to make a pierogi, a typical Polish dish (kind of like a dumpling). This tour is very specific as we cook in the private homes of our guides. As a result, there is no direction to provide as there are 12 different places all over Krakow. We arrive on foot or by local transport.

I had a little trouble finding the meeting location so I missed the market part of the experience, but Olgierd graciously caught me up with the group (2 others) and I enjoyed learning the pierogi making experience in his apt. This was a highlight of my 2 week trip to Krakow, Prague, and Berlin because Olgierd was such a wonderful host and made us feel like we had had a chance to gain a bit of insight into the culture beyond the cooking. Highly recommend, and I would do again if I returned to Krakow.

Such a fun tour.! There were only three of us and that was perfect. Olgierd was professional and a great cook. We had such fun going to the market and ordering our food to cook in Polish. I highly recommend this if you have time in beautiful Krakow

Even if you only have limited time in Krakow, I would 100% recommend Olgierd's cooking class. You really get that intimate, small-group feel and he is an expert on all things pierogi! After spending three days in Krakow and eating more pierogis than I’d like to admit, I can honestly say the pierogis we made during Olgierd’s cooking class were hands-down the best I had in the city by a landslide! The man is truly an artist.

Polish Home Cooking Class - Highly Recommended!

This being our first time in Poland, we wanted to do something to accentuate our visit and make it unique - this class clearly met the criteria! Our chef took us to the local farm market where we picked all of the ingredients needed for our polish dinner. This included conversing with the sellers in polish -- with our chef close by to help us say the right things! After the market, we went to his apartment to make perogies. He provided detailed instructions and demonstrations -- and then let us make our own. This included preparing the vegetables, mixing the dough, and assembling and cooking the perogies. Also included were appetizers, drinks and dessert (all pre-made) along with his personal history living in Poland -- which we found fascinating. For some, it might seem a little unnerving to enter a private residence, but it really turned out to be a really unique experience -- one that should not be passed up. If you like cooking -- this is a great thing to do in Krakow! Highly recommended!

Fun and Informative

Our Hostess Anna made our experience positive with her personable manner and straightforward explanations. We enjoyed learning about Polish traditions and actually visiting a market and store through this hands-on approach. Making the pierogis from scratch ourselves was great instead of just watching. Lots of fun!

Absolutely amazing experience. Would highly recommend when in Poland! Anna was a wonderful teacher - we went to the market, spoke in Polish and went back to her place. Tried local cheeses, pickles, etc. and then cooked. Loved this experience and met a few new people. Can't say enough about this class.

Was fun and informative

Our class was fun a d informative. We had the experience of visiting and cooking with a dynamic young woman in her home kitchen. Though many of my friends would have died if they had to cook in such tiny quarters, it really made it homey. She insisted we try out simple words when we went shopping at the large delightful local outdoor market as she had us ask for ingredients. The shop keepers were wonderful though we were intimitated. We had samples of different snacks we purchaxed, tnen made onion and potato perrogies. Talking to her about Poland and her way of life was so informative. Though a bit expensive for a simple cooking class the overall value we had was the experiences.
