Treat yourself and your special someone to a memorable night of gourmet island cuisine and a luau extravaganza. Depending on the transport option selected, you’ll either be picked up at your hotel or make your own way to the historic Kilohana Plantation, where you’ll be greeted with a flower lei and glass of sparkling wine. Settle in among the elegant surroundings at Gaylord’s Restaurant and enjoy a four-course meal of fresh Hawaiian fare. (See Itinerary below for a sample menu.)

After dinner, you’ll have time to wander the historic plantation home, which has been lovingly repurposed as a boutique shopping and dining destination. Browse unique galleries and shops, visit the Koloa Rum Company, or stop in at the atmospheric Mango Bar for a tropical cocktail if you like (own expense).

Follow torch-lit paths to the state-of-the-art Luau Pavilion and take your premier seat for some of the best views in the house. Sit back and relax as the talented performers of Luau Kalamaku interpret the history of the first Tahitian voyage to the Hawaiian Islands. Flame twirlers, knife dancers and traditional Polynesian hula dancers bring this epic tale to life with a mesmerizing production, accompanied by traditional drummers and other musicians.

Great Evening
, Feb 2020
A lot of reviews seemed to be really critical of the process. However my wife and I were very impressed. We had a great server and bus staff that were impressively professional, fun to interact with and provided a memorable dinner service. The meal was tasty and in four courses. Each course has two options so my wife and I ordered each and we were able to try everything. We were seated promptly at 1710 for dinner, and at 1905 on the dot as promised we were escorted by an actor and torch to the lauau. They gave us great seats tight to the stage. They also let us know bar was unlimited until 1930 so we had 30 minutes (pro tip: they only serve one person one drink per trip, so load up between 1900 and 1930). The presentation was right around an hour and was full of dancing, singing, and an impressive fire dance. Parking is escorted and they do this a couple times a week and it is all dialed in. If you're a quieter person and not as excited about buffet lines and big crowds the plantation dinner is a nice upgrade. Perhaps the other reviewers had an off night, but we honestly thought it was effortless. We did arrive an hour early and the shops do not tske very i woild recommend arriving 1615-1630.

I was very impressed with the dinner and show. I would recommend this to anyone. I've been to Luaus before. There is no comparison.

Great atmosphere, service and experience as long as you don't eat their food!

We walked in to Gaylord's and were very impressed with the atmosphere of the outdoor seating. The service was great. We only had two options for each course of the meal. My husband took one bite of each and couldn't finish. I ate the greens that were the garnishments is all. We had the spare ribs and they were so burnt, dry and impossible to chew, it was like eating a toothpick. Skip paying extra for the meal and just attend the luau, which was fantastic! We really enjoyed the show.

Great show, not so great meal
, Sep 2019
We loved the luau. The dancers were well choreographed and a great experience. However, the food was not great at all. We did the plantation dinner and the only good part was my drink and the crab cake. The spare ribs were tough, dry, and fatty. The salad was drowned in dressing to the point it was not edible. My husband's fish was overcooked. The service was just as bad, if not worse, than the food. Do the buffet as that has to be better if you come to Kalamaku.

The Plantation Owner's dinner was a bust. The restaurant itself is beautiful and our server was very friendly, but the food was so-so at best. The manager stopped at the table and asked my wife how her seared fish was, and she said ice-cold. the manager would not do anything, just rudely said you must be done with your meal and took it away. We were told the food for the buffet was excellent, so I would recommend the buffet rather than the dinner. The luau show was excellent, well choreographed, great dancers and singers, great show.

The experience itself was really nice. Pricing however could be more economical. Please double check your pickup times if you are getting picked up from your hotel. Don't just assume the voucher time is correct. Ours was off by 1 hour, thankfully we had a rental car and was relatively close to the venue. I must say though the Luau Manager did call us to see where we were and accommodated us with a condensed dinner serving, but really would have preferred to have been picked up from hotel for safety purposesdrinks. This way you can enjoy a few drinks and not worry about having to drive.

This was the second time I did this excursion. I came last year with Norgewian Cruise Line and decided to take my family when I came back this year. The Gaylord is wonderful and the food delicious. You are then escorted to front row seats to the show and it delivers. If you come ot Kauai this should be on your priority list.

Amazing! The upgrade is totally worth it. The dinner was fantastic. The service superb. The front row reserved seating just about had us in the show. You won't regret this one bit.

I absolutely loved the dinner and the luau. It was not a traditional luau, but instead an excellent dinner at a great restaurant Gaylords, and then front row sitting for the luau show. I would definitely do this again. We also took the Shuttle, so we could have a drink and not have to drive. Good Choice.
