Departure Time

7:30 AM
Discover why Manuel Antonio National Park is a favorite destination for visitors to Costa Rica. After morning pickup from your Jaco, Punta Leone or Fiesta Resort hotel, enjoy a scenic drive down the Central Pacific coast, passing through African palm plantations and small villages along the way.

Vehicles are not allowed in park in order to protect its fragile ecosystem, so you’ll leave the van behind at the town of Quepos for a short walk through the jungle and across a creek. Once inside the reserve, you’ll be greeted by an expanse of crystal-clear water lapping up against a gorgeous stretch of white sandy beach.

The day is yours to spend as you please. Join your guide on a nature hike through the surrounding rain forest to learn about abundant native plant species and spot local wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, sloths, iguanas, coatis and tropical birds. Hike along a trail towards the Cathedral Point outcropping for splendid panoramic views of the park.

You can also choose to relax on the beach and soak up the tropical sun, either after your hike or all day. Cool off with a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear water. Midday, enjoy a picnic lunch of fresh Costa Rican cuisine. As the sun begins to fall, hike back out of the park and enjoy the scenic return drive to your hotel.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio National Park is considered one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. It combines a beach of crystal-clear waters with coral reefs, bordered by exuberant tropical vegetation and rainforest. Its beaches are counted among the best of the country, where snorkeling and the surfing are very popular. On the way to Manuel Antonio National Park, you will cruise along the coastline enjoying scenic views and crossing plantations of African palms. You'll also travel past photogenic villages along the Pacific Coast, until you reach the port of Quepos and the National Park. Since the park itself is closed to vehicles, you will hike to the preserve, crossing a creek. Once in the park, you can simply relax and enjoy the beach, sunbathe or join a nature walk along the park's trails, which will allow you to observe the park's abundant flora and fauna. In particular, several species of monkeys, iguanas, birds and possibly even the three-toed sloth can be seen. One of the trails borders Cathedral Point, from where the view of the park and the sea is spectacular. Enjoy the perfect sunset on a scenic drive back to your Costa Rica hotel.

Great excursion! Manuel Antonio is a must. Emerson and Fabian were really great guides. We saw lots of beautiful birds and animals. It was my dream to see a sloth in his natural environment and I had the chance to see two of them! The guides were really patient, trying to find the animals with their telescopes for us to get a nice view. Most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in my life! The meal included in the package was DELICIOUS! Super super good restaurant (The Marlin) offering great typical food! I recommend this excursion for sure! Thanks guys!

Our guide was superb!

The park was beautifully lush, but unfortunately all we were able to see were the animals through our guides scope. Our guide Andres Morera was so knowledgeable and could mimic multiple bird and animal sounds which made it so entertaining.

Great tour, we were well looked after and saw lots of wildlife including sloths and two kinds of monkeys, much of which we would not have spotted without the help of our knowledgeable guide. The forest is full of life and the beach is beautiful!

We had to coordinate with the local tour operator to pick us up at our hotel in Quepos. They said we would be picked up at 7am. At 7:20 the shuttle had not arrived so we called to ask where it was and were told it was 15-20 minutes away. At 8 I called again and was told that they didn't realize we were in Quepos and they were coming from Jaco 1.5 hour away and wouldn't be there til 9. The park itself was nice, but we saw less wildlife than we had expected. Our guide was great and pointed out sloths, a poisonous grasshopper, some birds and bats. The tour breaks at the beach where the monkeys hang out. The beach was beautiful, but we hadn't brought swimwear as we didn't realize we would be there for about an hour. Back to the shuttle bus and off to lunch. Lunch was quite good and the view was spectacular.

The tour of Manual Antonio was very nice, the guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The tour itself was 2 hrs then we had 1.5 hrs after the tour to hike/sit on the beach in the park. The lunch location was very nice, it was outside the park right across the street from the public beach. The tour was not 12 hours as listed on the description, we were headed back to our hotel from the tour/lunch by 1:30pm. The transportation from the hotel was okay, we didn't get much insight on the area and it was difficult to confirm the actual pick up time. If you have never been to the park I recommend the tour otherwise you may want to go on your own or visit the activities/beach outside the park.

Our guide was very inexperienced, could barely speak english, and she kept needing to ask the other guides for help. Not only was she NOT knowledgeable, but the whole time the group was wishing we had one of the OTHER guides that knew what they were doing. We should've bought binoculars and did the tour ourselves, that's how useless the guide was, and what a waste of money the tour was. I would recommend to everyone to go through a different guide company.

Great tour, but a long day. The hike through the park was not for the faint hearted, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was pleased I opted for that option. We still had over an hour at the beach after the hike, but those who went straight to the beach had over 3 hours there. Lunch was good too.

A very nice trip!! We saw a lot of animals and birds. The beach is wonderful. A lot of people with kids visit this park, but if you are lucky to be in a small group with the guide, you can see a lot....
