Returns to original departure point
Meet your guide and group at a pre-arranged departure point in downtown Inverness. Climb into a luxury minibus and settle in for the journey to the Applecross Peninsula, passing through a picturesque area known as the Black Isle on the way. During the trip, which takes just a few hours, stop at the charming village of Lochcarron to stretch your legs and explore a bit.

Upon arrival in the village of Arndarroch, admire views of Loch Kishorn, then chug up the steep Bealach nam Ba (Pass of the Cattle). From the summit of the pass at 2,000 feet (610 meters) high, get photo-worthy views of the nearby Isle of Skye.

Spend some free time in the quaint village of Applecross, enjoying the scenic seascape and keeping an eye out for local wildlife such as pine martens, otters and red deer. Pop into a pub for lunch if you're hungry or immerse yourself in HIghlands history at the Applecross Heritage Centre (both at own expense).

Meet your guide back at the minibus for a scenic drive along the shoreline of Loch Torridon, stopping to explore the town of Shieldaig. Continue through Britain's oldest nature reserve, the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, where you may see golden eagles soaring overhead.

On the journey back to Inverness pass through the typical villages of Achnasheen and Kinlochewe. Arrive back in central Inverness in the early evening for drop-off.

Applecross Peninsula Scotland day tour
Kathy E
, Sep 2018
Malcolm was our guide and driver on the September 19th tour. He is a great guide; very informative and humorous. He was able to make a few diversions due to inclement weather, which made for a full day. If I had any complaint, it was not a gloriously sunshiny day that everyone wants, but, Malcolm made the most of it and we have great memories of the area and pictures to prove it!

This is absolutely amazing day trip. The best of the ones I did while in Inverness - we did not have to cover huge distances, the party was not huge, we had a guide and a driver who were just fab. The scenery is fantastic, if you are into mountain landscapes of course - I am. We were told we were lucky with the weather, and seeing Isle of Skye, Outer Hebrides and other smaller islands was not a problem. One of the highest located paved roads in the UK Applecross pass Bealach na Ba is gorgeus, I must admit. It's something I always forget about Scottish mountains. They don't seem very high, but then you must remember you start your journey from the sea level. The only downsize was a guy in front of me who was taking pictures all the time and so it was his hand with a camera in it that obstructed my view a little bit Thanks to Vicky and Kevin for being such fantastic guides

I cannot rave enough about our Tour guide! I believe his name was Michael and he was so informative and friendly the entire day. This tour was by far the highlight of my vacation with stunning scenery and so many opportunities to stop and take photos and ask questions. If I ever go back to the area I would definitely take this tour again!

Our driver and guide was very good. Gave us a good history lesson. We made numerous stops along the way to do photo shoots or take care of needs. The scenery was beautiful along the way and I was glad the driver was doing the driving over the cattle pass. Lunch was a delight at the Walled Garden. Fish and Chips excellent. The only negative it was a long day. 930 am to 630pm.

Another fantastic tour, which I would definitely recommend. Malcolm was an excellent tour guide, with a wonderful mix of humour, history, and information about the region, in a relaxed and approachable manner. He made lots of stops, which was great, as the scenery was amazing and everyone wanted to take lots of photos. The tour group was a nice size - about 12 people - with a good mix of people. I really enjoyed this day.

Guide was very experienced with the rd to Applecross. Two things can be improved though- less time could be spent lounging at cafes and more time taking pictures or stopping at good spots for photography. Guide also needs to control the things he say as he tends to be abit careless with his words.

Scenery was breathtaking. Morning stop for tea/scones not good. They were not prepared for a bus of about 20 people. Tour guide bonded too much with one passenger and forgot to detail what we were seeing.
