The Hunter Valley has earned a reputation for great wine and food, making it a popular day tour from Sydney. With your guide, you’ll make the most of your time and visit some of the best establishments in the valley.

During your tour, expect to stop at wineries, such as McGuigan Winery, in addition to enjoying a lunch feast at Hunter Valley Resort. Established in the 1880's McGuigan Wines is now one of the most awarded wineries in the world having won 'worlds best winemaker' three times.

The Hunter Valley Resort lies in the heart of Hunter Valley. View Shiraz vineyards that have flourished there for decades as you dine a delicious lunch with a selection of 5 mains with homemade loaves of bread to share and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.

Learn about wine-making during a private tour of a vineyard, perhaps taste a flight of locally brewed beers, and keep an eye out for wild kangaroos that your guide may be able to point out to your group.  After lunch, visit Leogate Estate, where you can sample their award-winning wines and hear about their history in the region.

Tour not what was advertised

The Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour was suppose to include three known vineyards ( Leogate, McGuigan, Roche, plus cheese tasting at Smelly Cheese Shop, and lunch at Hunter Valley Resort). While we did go to McGuigan and Hunter Valley Resort, the other venues were substituted with Ernest Hill( a very small vineyard), and Hermitage Road Cellars, which which presented us with some local wines and cheese, but was not a vineyard or cheese specialty store. The driver/guide Peter was very pleasant, but we were not happy with the delivered tour . We did complain to Viator, and were told we would receive a refund.

A Tasteful Day Away from Sydney

Wine tasting tours are always on my list as I travel and this did not disappoint. With a pleasant ride to the countryside, a delicious lunch at McGuigan Wines and several tastings, I came back with two wonderful wines to share with family. You have the chance to sample well over a dozen wines as well as the shared history of the winery. It's always a great way to meet new people and share a moment that brings strangers together from all over the world.

Really good...until the last stop

We really only visited 2 wineries for tasting. One stop was just for lunch and we were served the house red or white. The last "tasting" was more of a mini-mall and not a winery. The beer tasting at the lunch stop was good.

Underwhelming wineries

I did not enjoy the wineries we visited, I was expecting to go to wineries I am familiar with , as there are many world famous wines , we were taken to only 2 wine tastings, not 3 like the advertisement said. Lunch included one glass of wine and this was counted as a tasting? IT IS NOT , finally they took us to the last winery , which turned out to be a strip mall where we wasted 40 minutes before heading back to Sydney, I do not recommend this tour

Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour

Overall, a really good tour option. It was a long ride from Kings Cross to Hunter Valley (made worse because of traffic caused by a truck fire), so having a good driver is important. Jason was the best! Intelligent, funny, and patient, Jason made the trip for us. We loved both of the wineries visited - especially Leogate! Shout out to Vanessa! Lunch at Hunter Valley Resort wasn’t the best. Overall, I’d highly recommend the tour.

Great Tour!

This tour was all that was promised! The 2+ hour trip to the Hunter Valley went quickly as Peter T., our tour guide, pointed out points of interest along the way. Peter was professional, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. The flow and timing of the tour worked well with just enough time spent at each stop. There's a great cheese shop at the last winery - an added bonus. The lunch was excellent, too! We'd definitely recommend this tour to others!

Our tour was fantastic right from the go with our hilarious coach driver, Stewart. He picked us right on time and then we proceeded through the city of Sydney to the Hunter Valley with a continuous commentary that gave us insights to the life, history and future of the areas we traversed. At the Hunter Valley we visited the three wineries, each gave us a good insight to their operations, tastings and a good send off with wines and wine related goods. The trip back was through the country to the city with commentary where needed and time to sleep. The on-board WIFI was much appreciated. Well done, and highly recommended!!
