What To Expect

Start pickup at your hotel, then begin the trip to the Delta town of Ben Tre in an air-conditioned minivan (pickup is only available at District 1 hotels, or at a centrally-located meeting point). Upon arrival at Ben Tre, transfer to a riverboat for a scenic trip along the Ham Luong River, a tributary of the Mekong River.

Visit a series of local workplaces at the edge of the water, and learn how local products are made, from activated charcoal to dried coconut, coconut husk brooms, and coconut fiber crafts. Keep exploring a network of quiet village roads in a motorized rickshaw, or xe lôi, then hop in a kayak for a paddle down a canal flanked by tropical foliage.

Refuel with a lunch of regional cuisine in a family home, and enjoy an early afternoon break to stroll, explore the village, or simply relax in the sunshine. Visit a farm to sample fresh fruits, then travel down the Mekong Delta’s winding system of canals in a small rowboat, the perfect way to get a taste of Delta life at its most traditional. Return to Ben Tre in the sampan boat meeting a driver for the trip back to Ho Chi Minh City. This tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

Depart your hotel for Ben Tre. After arriving at Ham Luong dock, board the boat & cruise along Ham Luong River, a tributary to the Mekong River. The cool breeze from the river and lush tropical islands along its banks will immediately get you excited to explore all the great things ahead. Arrive and visit various local workplaces to find many wonderful examples of how local people use ageless techniques to create their crafts, including activated charcoal, dried coconut, handy coconut husk brooms, and many family businesses using coir, or coconut fiber, to create amazing art. Cruise around the village roads by “Xe Lôi”, the local vehicle, which is a kind of motorized rickshaw. Do a kayaking through the lush tropical canal. Perfect your day with a delicious and filling lunch at a local host house. Break time, treating yourself to a relaxing time to relish the beautiful countryside or cycling around the village. Visit the local fruit plantation, enjoy seasonal fresh fruits, and spend time relaxing while being rowed in a small boat slowly through the natural canals to get a sense of how truly beautiful this area is. Embark on the sampan and return to the dock. Travel back to Saigon to complete your trip. ***Please note: Drop off time is subject to traffic.
