Returns to original departure point
Meet your guide bright and early in central Glasgow for your full-day tour. Grab a comfortable seat in a top of the range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach for the northbound ride toward the Glencoe, a glen of breathtaking beauty that boasts high mountain peaks, ridges, bubbling rivers, and waterfalls. Along the way, pass the ‘bonnie, bonnie’ banks of Loch Lomond for some stunning views of Scotland’s largest loch.

In Glencoe, enjoy a scenic stroll to stretch your legs, and learn about the historic MacDonald clan that resided here and suffered in the brutal massacre of 1692. Afterward, hop back in the coach to continue your journey through Great Glen and past Fort William, a key military post during the 18th-century Jacobite Rebellions.

Sidle up to the banks of Loch Ness, where the tour breaks for some free time. Explore Fort Augustus, grab some lunch or take an hour-long cruise on the loch for a chance spotting of the famous Loch Ness monster (all activities at own expense).

After your lunch-time break, continue back toward Inverness and wind through Cairngorms National Park. Catch lovely views of peaks and waterfalls, and hear about the series Monarch of the Glen that was filmed here. Head over Drummochter Summit and soon arrive at the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry, where you have free time to explore before heading to Perthshire.

From here, begin your return trip to Glasgow, passing Stirling Castle on the way. Snap some photos of the historic site—former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots—and learn about its colorful history, riddled with warfare such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge led by William Wallace.

Then relax for the return ride to Glasgow, where your trip ends back at the starting point in the late evening.

An historical wander in the Highlands

Our tour guide brought the places to life with his knowledge of the history and with a touch of humour thrown in. A long and very good trip. Very good value.

Great guide Steve and you get to see Western Scotland in one day. It's a very long day , 12hrs, and most of the time is spent in the van as you have to reach the next destination and route. I think if tour organisers shorten distance covered whilst maintaining the 12hr then it would be more enjoyable as we can stop more frequently for photos, etc. I enjoyed it but I would not do the same trip again for reasons just mentioned. If you are short on time, want to see as much of Scotland in a day from the van, then this trip is for you and you won't be disappointed as you will cover around 380 miles or Km , can't recall which 🙂. Rabbies is a great tour operator and this was my 3rd trip with them and I will use them again.

I enjoyed the scenery as we were driving by, but there weren't enough opportunities to stop and take photos or look around during our tour. We chose to take the Loch Ness cruise, so all we had time to do in the town was to get on and off the ferry before it was time to go. Unfortunately, we never got to explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle, because I was looking forward to that the most. However, we had a knowledgeable driver/tour guide that shared the history of the sights throughout our tour.

Mostly a tardy bus ride with little interaction with the verdant highlands or Lochs!

The guide john was jolly and enthusiastic ! However most of the trip is mostly spent in the bus with a few brief spots for pics and food — there wasn’t much time to dwell or sink in the idyllic highlands ….

Excellent tour guide, very informative and engaging. If you’re interested in getting a taste of some of the Scottish highlands and natural/scenic viewpoints, you’d enjoy the tour. Keep in mind the majority of it is on a bus but the guide was really good

Amazing Highlands and Loch Ness Tour
Luca

This day tour is excellent! Absolutely breathtaking scenery, lovely driver/guide and a comfortable little coach. It seems like they have added some more stops (e.g Three Sisters, highland cows, a summit, and some more). However, some non-native speakers might have difficulties to understand the guide speaking with a Scottish accent. Anyway, it is more than worthwhile joining this day tour!
