Greenock, Glasgow Port
Your Glasgow shore excursion begins with morning pickup from Greenock Port. Meet your guide and board the air-conditioned coach for a short ride through the rugged Scottish countryside to Stirling.

Your first stop is Stirling Castle, a critical medieval stronghold and former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots. With your free time here, stroll the grounds and snap photos, or purchase an optional interior tour and see some of the spectacular rooms including the Great Hall and James V’s Palace. Learn about the site’s colorful history riddled with battles such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge, led by the legendary William Wallace. Then continue to Doune Castle for another unique photo opportunity.

Afterwards, head into the wild country, coursing though rolling hills and green pastures to Kilmahog at the edge of Trossachs National Park. As your coach travels through the Highlands, admire the natural and cultural sights like ‘wee hairy coos’ (cattle) with long, thick coats set against a breathtaking backdrop.

Your expert guide will narrate the journey through Trossachs National Park, giving historical context to the present-day surroundings like the sweet village of Aberfoyle nestled in the forest. Explore the town and grab some lunch (own expense) before heading to Loch Lomond, the last stop on your trip. Stroll on the banks of this tranquil lake and buy yourself a nip of local whisky.

Your full-day trip concludes with return service to Greenock port, arriving by evening.

In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. Great trip

Great trip. I would have liked a little more time at Stirling castle. Luss was delightful and Callum was a great driver/ guide
icon Response from Host , Aug 2022
Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm pleased to hear that you had a great time on tour with us and really enjoyed having Callum as your guide. You could easily spend a day at Stirling and the castle if you tried so I'm sorry if you felt that the stop there was a wee bit short but I hope you enjoyed it nevertheless. All the best, David

Too rushed and disappointing.
Karl_B
, May 2022
Most memorable aspect of the tour was rushing in order to get to the next stop and not having much time at each. Additionally I was uncomfortable with the speed at which the driver was going on the narrow and very winding roads we travelled. It was all but impossible to take any photos from the van due to speed. Enjoyed Stirling Castle but again there was not enough time after the tour to explore. Found that the driver offered little in the way of history or color of the area but mainly just answered questions from passengers.

Hi there, thank you for leaving your review. I'm sorry to hear that you felt rushed during the tour and that you didn't have enough time at each stop. We try to time our tours carefully so that there is plenty of time to enjoy each stop as well as have longer stops to grab refreshments etc. I'm also sorry to hear that you felt your driver was going to fast along narrow and winding roads, we do have fleet management software that would notify us if there was any dangerous or irresponsible driving going on. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Stirling Castle however. All the best, David

Scotland in a day
waysho57

Gary our driver/guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about Scotland on this all day tour from Greenock to Stirling castle, Loch Lomond and the drive thru the Highlands. The castle is a great place to visit, could have spent more time there but the time we had was adequate. The drive thru the Highland was beautiful and informative and Loch Lomond is a bit touristy but still nice. I would highly recommend this tour!

Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm happy to hear you had a great time on the Greenock Shore Excursion. It's a great way to see some of the best of Scotland on your limited time here! Stirling Castle is a great visit, but we unfortunately just have to be careful with timings on a tour like this. Hopefully we will see you on another tour in the future if you are back in Scotland! Best wishes, David

Excellent driver/guide on an interesting tour.

Gary was a very knowledgeable and good driver who brought a great deal of interest to the tour. Unfortunate that we couldn't have spent more time at Stirling Castle which had a great deal to offer. We'd have gladly sacrificed time at Loch Lomond shopping area to have had more time at Stirling. A photo stop and a short walk about is all that was needed at Loch Lomond.

Hi there, Robert. Thank you for your review! I'm glad you really enjoyed having Gary as your driver-guide on tour and that he was full of knowledge and made it really interesting. I'm sorry we weren't able to spend more time at Stirling Castle, but as you can imagine, on tours like this we need to be careful about timings. Hopefully we will see you on another tour some day in the future to show you more of Scotland! Best wishes, David

what a waste
Tim_T
, Sep 2019
Stirling Castle was nice, but could have used at least another hour or two. Could have got that from the hour we wasted at lock lomand or Trossachs. Or even the hairy cows and shop we stoped at. 3 hours wasted. The booking talked about William Wallis, which was so loved, his monument was huge, as they pointed it out as we drove by, WHY, WHY, WHY???? and could have climbed the tower and seen his 6' sword!!! Would have traded 1 hour there for the 3 hours we wasted at Loch Lomand, Trossachs, and the hairy cows souvenir shop.

Rain didn't stop our Parade

The continual Scottish rain and wind did not dampen the beauty of the Scottish countryside and Stirling Castle, and the enthusiasm of our driver-guide, who was generous in sharing his knowledge of Scottish history and geography.

Good tour, with one exception
Steven_D
, Aug 2019
Our guide was Eric. Entertaining and knowledgeable. Ran a tight ship and kept the group moving. Hit all the promised spots. Stirling Castle was especially impressive with a tour by castle staff. Central to Scottish history for hundreds of years. However, toward the end we hit traffic and Eric was not sure if we would have time to make it to Lock Lomond. He took some short cuts, driving through beautiful country, and assured us we would have time. I was stunned when we pulled up to a small, modern shopping center, Loch Lomond Shores Mall. I could not even see the lake. As I walked around the corner of the mall, I found an aquarium and childrenʻs activities. This was all at one end of the loch and I could see it extend, quite beautifully, into the distance. But, we were in a tourist trap. I finally got over my surprise enough to take some video so I would know this was real. Was the driver getting a kickback to take us to this shopping area? No one on the tour with whom I spoke thought this stop was a good one. Eliminate this stop and I would give the tour 5 stars.

This was a fabulous tour and our first stop in scenic Scotland. The scenery to each site was stunning and the information and commentary provided by our guide Stephen was exceptional. Stirling Castle is well worth a visit and was one of our favourite stops during our 2 week holidays. We had high expectations of Scotland and this tour and our friendly knowledgeable guide helped to exceed our expectations.

Great Castle! Rainy day for Loch Lomond:(
Donna_K
, Jun 2019
The Castle was great but needed more time there as lots to see. Our Guide, Daniel was very nice and knowledgeable. We stopped at a small town for lunch but was disappointed with his suggestion. He should have given us more information and choices. Unfortunately we had a very rainy day so the visit to Loch Lomond was disappointing. Turned out to be just a bland shopping stop. Maybe the tour should have had another option for bad weather.

The Tour guide and Driver were fantastic. We wished we could have had some time in Glasgow or at least a panoramic tour of the city. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs were not very good attractions for us. Not much to see or do, just a shopping stop, that's why only 4 *s.

This tour was very good. We were met at the port gate after disembarking from Crown Princess. David and James were very good and very entertaining and made everything as comfortable as possible since it was raining when we had this tour. I would recommend this tour.

Excellent value - Guide and Driver - pleasant, informative, and very entertaining. Stirling Castle should not be missed. Coach has internet access. Loch Lomond a disappointment - not much to see in the time allotted, and very dependent on the weather.

Stirling Castle is worth the visit even there was shower in the morning when we arrived. Loch Lomond is beauty although we were only able to stay at a specific spot of the Loch due to time constraint.

We arrived at the meeting point on...
Susan_P
, Aug 2018
We arrived at the meeting point on time, but were amongst the last out of the tour group to arrive. As every seat on the bus was sold, we ended up squashed on the back seat of the bus. Not only was this uncomfortable, but we couldn't take any pictures on route as we weren't by a window - not a good start. We first headed for Stirling Castle, which we had pre-ordered tickets for. Although the castle setting was spectacular on top of a hill, and it was almost entirely preserved, the castle interiors were very sparsely furnished, which was a bit of a disappointment. Also, it would have been better if we had a quick photo stop, to get a shot of the castle from a distance - as we left we could see it behind us up on the hill, but we couldn't get a photo. We then stopped for an hour for lunch in a small village called Aberfoyle, which had the Scottish Wool Centre and a few restaurants. Next we drove through the spectacular Trossachs, but took no photos as we weren't by a window. We then had a short photo stop for a hotel that looked like a castle - The Trossachs Hotel?. We then continued on and the drove alongside Loch Lomond, before we arrived at the village of Luss, our only Loch Lomond stop. Here, we had 20 minutes to walk by the lake and explore the scenic village, which was not really enough time to appreciate it. We then went back to Greenock, arriving late in the afternoon. Although the excursion gave us a good appreciation of the area, it was disappointing due to our seating on the bus - a window seat would have given us a better experience. I know it's all about the money, but you should keep the back seat of the bus free.

A Triple Outing
Joann B
, Aug 2018
We started the day with our guide, Paul dressed in Scottish clan clothing. He did an excellent job guiding the tour, relating history and keeping interest level high. Our first stop, Stirling Castle was very interesting and educational. We went from there to a drive through, The Trossachs, a national park of sorts... We saw a large variety of plants, floral and fauna on a very winding road. After a lunch stop in the village of Alberfoyle, and some shopping at the Woolen Mills, we then headed on a drive an eventual stop at Loch Lomond. The part seemed unnecessary. At one of our stops, our driver, demonstrated some native Scottish arms, and swords... There was interest in that.

Loved every minute!
Addie S
, Aug 2018
This was our first visit to the area, so we were looking for a guide who was knowledgeable and thorough - and enjoyable. Eric was all of those things and more!! We saw everything we had hoped to see and more, including shaggy cows and Clydesdale horses in the fields. At the castle we learned so much about Scottish history; and we experienced all the beauty of the area on our drive through the national park and at the lake. I cannot rate this trip too highly!!

Guide Eric was ready for us when our cruise ship docked. The itinerary was excellent - good to explore Stirling Castle, sample some single malt at a distillery and see the beauty of the area. Eric provided excellent commentary with a good amount of Scottish humor.
