  • Finish with a visit to a second winery and sample the renowned Chianti Classico wine

Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This tour follows an off-road route in a 4x4 vehicle to showcase parts of Chianti many visitors miss.
Meet your guide in central Florence and hop aboard an air-conditioned, 4x4 minibus. Watch the city streets transform into the rolling hillside of Chianti, lined with vineyards and olive groves.

Your first stop of the day is at a winery belonging to one of the most prominent Italian families. Taste wines paired with cheese and olive oils, and enjoy a guided tour of the historic wine cellars. Travel to the olive mill through the villa's underground tunnels, as well as to the garden.

Afterward, head to a Tuscan restaurant and settle in for a 3-course meal, including regional specialties such as different types of fresh pasta and glasses of fine Chianti wine. (See the Itinerary for a sample menu).

Continue to a small, award-winning winery that specializes in Chianti Classico wine. Hear about the winemaking process while sipping and swirling delicious varietals.

Enjoy the last of your afternoon in the charming town of Greve-in-Chianti, where the Chianti Classico wine festival is held each year. Pick up a selection of typical salumi (cured meats) from one of Italy’s most famous butchers, before heading back to Florence.

Great Experience

Our Guide Martina was exceptionally knowledgeable and very pleasant. From the meeting point to the location to get into the vehicle was a lengthily walk which was not expected but was manageable. Considering the size of the vehicle and the roads are so narrow it's completely understandable. The experience was great and I would recommend it. Cant wait to use our olive oil.

We loved our guide, Martina. She was so warm and did a great job explaining all things wine, food, and Italian. We had a wonderful day with her and she did a wonderful job accommodating my mother’s allergy! Fantastic wine, amazing food, we left stuffed and happy. Big thanks to Marina and our driver Romelo! We would definitely recommend seeing the Chianti region with them!

Chianti Food and Wine Tour

This tour was the highlight of our entire trip. Stefano was an excellent tour guide, extremely knowledgeable and very funny. We got to experience so much on this tour and the amount of wine and DELICIOUS food it included was way more than we expected for this price.
FABULOUS day in Tuscan Wine Country! *10 Stars*

This was an outstanding tour. Our guide (Martina) was not only a "wine guru" (aka sommelier), but a wealth of historical info as well. She made the trip as great as it was! We visited 3 winery estates and tasted 9 lovely wines, had a great lunch, and had lots of nibbles paired with the wine tastings. The huge safari vehicle was also a lot of fun (even when we were stopped by the local police for what I can only assume were the BIG tires!). Can't thank Martina enough for making this day so special! This is a DON'T MISS tour if you are in the Florence area.

The truck was comfortable and not crowded like other forms of transportation used with most tours. The group size was perfect! Gloria was an awesome tour guide.
Motion sick!

Riding in this large personnel carrier vehicle is like being inside a washing machine cycle; up, down, side to side, forward and back all at once! If you don’t like carnival rides, avoid this!!!

Hello, We are very sorry to read that you did not appreciate this experience. It is written in the description about the safari nature of this tour and the 4x4 vehicle. If you travel in a smaller 4x4 we can assure you that it would be much less comfortable. We are proud of the fact that we can offer the unique experience of actually driving through vineyards and on roads that you normally wouldn't be able to access in one of the most beautiful wine areas in the world. Kind regards Walkabout
