Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This gourmet cooking class pairs two Italian favorites with scenery that beats any restaurant.
Make your own way to the centrally located office to meet your professional chef-guide before your afternoon or evening tour starts.

Transfer by minibus to a private estate situated in the hills above Florence. Start your culinary experience with a tasting of a traditional fettunta (toast with toppings) appetizer accompanied by a glass of Chianti wine. Soak in views of the rolling hills as your instructor shares the backstory of Italy's famous foods: pizza and gelato.

Next your chef-instructor shows you how to make pizza dough, and explains regional variations. After preparing the dough, select the topping ingredients that you like from the assortment of fresh vegetables harvested from the estate gardens. Your pizza is then baked traditional-style in the wood oven. When ready, sit down to enjoy your pizza accompanied by wine or beer.

For dessert, learn to make a creamy gelato that can be accompanied by toppings and sauces. Your instructor provides recipes for the pizza and gelato so that you can make them at home.

Your culinary experience ends with a return trip to your starting point in Florence.

Florence Must do!
, Jan 2020
This was our 4th experience/tour with 'WalkAbout Florence' and we had a fantastic time learning how to make Gelato (with Angela) and Pizza (with Luca & Luigi). Was a beautiful setting and we were highly entertained throughout. Could not recommend enough. When visiting Florence make sure to book a tour with 'WalkAbout Florence Tours'.
A birthday treat in Florence
, Jan 2020
I was thrilled to have chosen this experience as my birthday treat in Florence, during our holiday in Italy. It was well planned, excellent duration, superbly presented by 3 energetic and entertaining "chefs" . We learnt a lot, laughed a lot , and enjoyed the pizza and gelato to round off a super evening!! Thank you Luca, Luigi and Angie.
The best tour/activity of our vacation!

This was hands down our favorite activity/tour of our vacation. We can’t recommend Gloria, Lucca and Luigi enough! The atmosphere was fun, energetic and welcoming. The pizza and gelato we made was delicious. Each person in our family raved about how much fun we had and we all wanted to do it again! Gloria was cordial and friendly and made making gelato easy (can’t wait to try it at home) The brick oven pizzas were made with “love” and tasted amazing. Lucca was an absolute blast, so funny and Luigi was so sweet and he made a perfect duo with Lucca. We loved making pizza and will remember our hosts every time we try our recipes!

We had the most wonderful time on this tour. Gloria, Luca & Luigi were amazing hosts and it felt like a cooking class with family. Our children were made to feel very welcome and each of them throughly enjoyed the experience. They would have done it again the following evening if we'd had time!
Best tour!

My husband and I had the best time with this tour! Cris, Luca and Luigi were fantastic teachers. If we could give this tour more stars we would. Definitely would recommend this one! Honestly the best tour we did in Italy and we did quite a few.

The only thing I think that needs updating is to have a better meeting location. We met at the Walkabout Florence office and then had to walk as a large group over to where the bus was. It was about a 5-10 minute walk but not the easiest walk while there is still traffic, etc. However once you are on the bus and on your way it was amazing. It is a scenic ride up to the Farm house. If you cannot walk well this is not for you! There is a lot of stairs and cobble roads but every step is worth it! Angela is very knowledgeable and kind. She amazed me how she can go from speaking perfect English right back to Italian! She is very patient with everyone and quite a master at her craft. (she was the gelato instructor). The pizza making was fabulous and we could not stop laughing or smiling! Luca and Luigi have a chemistry that is hard to find! They both made every moment enjoyable and assisted you in every step of the way without making you feel silly. We were celebrating my birthday and Angela, Luca and Luigi brought out Tiramisu and sang me Happy Birthday which was magical all in itself! If you are looking for a unique thing to do with a fun group of people this is the class for you! I am not usually into group activities or outings like this but I was all in this time! If in in Florence this is a MUST DO!!

Our pizza and gelato cooking class with Max and Luigi was amazing. My daughter and I had a wonderful time. Our chiefs Max and Luigi were fun and informative. Excellent setting in a farmhouse with beautiful views, which added to the experience. I would highly recommend this class for a very unique and wonderful time learning the craft of Italian cooking.
