Italian Opera Concert in Santa Monaca Church

This was a lovely thing to do after a nice evening meal. I thought the length of time of the concert was just right. Small, intimate and lovely setting inside the church. Both the singer and the pianist were very good. Only two very small things to mention... firstly, it was difficult to get in as the front doors were locked and there weren’t any clear signs that this was the right venue. Eventually someone heard me rattle the door and came to let me in. Also, I completely appreciate being ‘in the moment‘ to enjoy the music and that taking photos and videos throughout the concert would have been a distraction; however, it would have been nice to have had a photo opportunity of the performers at the end.

First time at an Opera. Great venue, wonderful experience, talented performers. Highly recommend the experience.

My wife and me had a fantastic evening. We had a meal before going to the performance. It really felt personal and a privilege to listen to such talented performers in that close and beautiful surround. I thoroughly recommend this experience as somebody who is not an opera aficionado.

Special setting in the old church, sometimes traffic noise can be heard. The singers were overwhelming and delivered a perfect performance, filling the room with their voices and acting sympathically. However, the piano player did not meet the level of his colleagues. This clearly reduced the joy of listening.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It was approximately 1.5 hours in length and held in a quaint (by Florence/Italian standards) little church. We got to experience 3 different signers with singing a variety of selections that were attuned to their skills and interests. There was also a duet and a concluding piece involving all three. The venue and singers made for a great artistic experience. What also further made the evening was the fact that it appeared that all the performers, including the pianist, had great rapport and seemed to enjoy each other's company. It was a great way for us to end our time in Florence and Italy. Thank you!

The former church that now houses this musical event was within walking distance from our accommodations, so that made for a lovely evening walk through the streets of Florence. Once the singing begins, you are transformed, and the acoustics inside the church are perfect. Just a taste of the best operas will leave you wanting to book a ticket to an opera. A lovely change of pace when you spend all day sightseeing. The performers were fabulous.

One hour of delightful music don't by an opera singer who should be on the professional stage. The pianist who accompanied her was superior. I'm happy that the venue was small and simple. Made the experience all the more enjoyable.

We booked this because my husband is an opera fan and we were only in the area for a short while. This was a great way to get a taste of true Italian Opera without having to book months in advance and sit through a whole show. The pianist was amazing and the two singers were wonderful. It was very enjoyable. The only issue was finding the venue was very confusing. It states it is in a Church, so we walked to the Church with that name but it was not open. We walked around in the dark, in what seemed to be not the best area, where we finally found the small door in a long line of building, which happened to be a beautiful chapel. There was a small sign on the door but it was very difficult to find.

It was a nice experience if you want a slow and relax night. Nice to watch an Opera. The singers are good. The only things is the place. It looks like an old run down church. The place don’t match the singer. Needs better place for good singers.

With only 5 or 6 rows of seating, everyone is up close to the 2 opera singers and the pianist seated at a full-sized grand piano. They all performed with such passion, and playful antics at the appropriate moments in each of the songs. We noticed several people around us were moved to tears by the performance. Not an opera aficionado myself, but still recognised a few of the songs they performed, which were from a variety of operas and composers. Their sound filled the space wonderfully. Highly recommend this moving experience!!
