It was a great tour. We got to see Siena first, then had lunch at a great winery, followed by a short stop to Montepulcino, and lastly San Gimignano. I feel like it was pretty well paced out for the day. It was a good mix of information and free time to explore. Our guide was very nice and informative.
Kind of felt that we were left at the towns to explore on our own - could have taken a taxi. Also we were left on the outskirts of Florence to take and pay for our way back into town on the metro. They paid for our trip on the metro to the outskirts of town to the bus. The bus held the maximum amount of people -around 45 - info on the bus was in English and in Spanish.
We enjoyed a very good full day tour, it was Informative & we received a very kind, friendly service, especially from Rosa our tour guide. She really does make sure that you have everything you need & is very knowledgeable about the Italian history. The only thing that let us down was the wet & rainy weather, however Rosa still managed to make it an enjoyable experience.
It seemed like a normal tour, until 3 asian-looking girls approached the bus. The bus driver suddenly starts screaming NOOOO for the asian girls and what happens is: after a long discussion the girls are accepted on the bus as long as they wear a mask for the whole time in the bus. They claim they are not chinese and have been traveling in europe for the past several weeks, but the company won’t accept it, the guide explains for the rest of the group that they don’t transport asians since a few weeks ago. This was by far the most ridiculous and judgmental situation I have ever seen on a tour. So much prejudice!!!!!!
This was a really nice full day trip through the Tuscan countryside, giving us a wonderful introduction to Tuscan and ideas for future visits. Olesia was a great guide. Our group was quite large and she kept us together and for the most part on track during the visit. She was knowledgeable and engaging and provided us with the key bits of information needed to enjoy the trip. Our lunch at the vineyard was a nice break; the food and wine were both good and gave us a chance to get to know some of our fellow travelers.
While there was quite a bit of walking and steep steps, we were able to gain a great perspective on the different spots that couldn't be accomplished if limited to a bus tour.
The locations were great to see, however the English tour guide was somewhat difficult to understand. Some of the walking was a little challenging and there was no real warning about this. There was a younger guy with a crutch and the hills were a little difficult, and the guides never really bothered to make sure we were all behind. They just kind of took off with no real explanation of where we were heading which would have been more helpful. The bus also parked pretty far from each spot, and our initial meeting place required us to take a 20 minute tram to the meeting location. Also, the "wine lunch" suggested rolling hills and was only a flat indoor location. While San Gimignano was beautiful, the guides did not enhance the day. We took a Viator tour in Rome and the museum tour while in Florence and were much more impressed. Bus was not in good shape either.
The bus tour was an amazing experience! The 2 tour guides and the bus driver were friendly and knowledgeable! It was a great way to get out of the city of Florence for a day and see the sights of three nearby Tuscan towns. Walked around a medieval village and experience a wine tasting with lunch. Would definitely recommend to all travelers!
