Duomo Terraces

Make your way to the Piazza San Marco, where you’ll meet your guide. Walk right past the long lines at the Accademia Gallery, and visit one of the museum’s most iconic masterworks: the David, a longtime symbol of the small (but mighty) Florentine Republic. You’ll also have time to explore some of Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures, The Slaves, which offer a fascinating insight into the artist’s creation process.

Continue to the Duomo Baptistry to see its famous doors, replicas of the originals, which you’ll see later in the Duomo Museum. Learn stories about the members of the powerful Medici family that were baptized here, and see some of the Duomo’s exquisite artwork.

The next stop is the Duomo Museum, which offers a glimpse of how the Cathedral’s original façade once looked, and contains masterpieces by Michelangelo and Donatello. Walk past the lines into the Duomo itself, where you’ll have special access to a room of statues from the Cathedral’s original façade. This tour also gets you pass the velvet ropes, so you can take in the Cathedral’s remarkable detailing up close.

Finish the tour with a once-in-a-lifetime experience: skip the lines for the Duomo Terraces, and climb all the way to the top for panoramic views of Florence. This tour concludes at the Duomo Terraces.

So worth it
, Dec 2021
I’m so glad I took this tour, I learned so much more than I expected with lots of background information to make everything come alive. Plus no waiting in those long, long lines.
Informative, but exhausting
, Dec 2021
The tour guide was very learned and very nice but I think there needs to be a balance between art historian and entertainer. He spent 20 minutes talking about a clock and I just couldn’t take it anymore so I bowed out. Honestly, listening to him talk about David was too much as well. I appreciate his knowledge, but having a group stand still staring at the same piece of art for a half hour is a terrible use of time and information to pass on (in my opinion).

Dear Christine, Thank you for taking the time to review our David and the Duomo tour. We rely on our guests' experience to always improve, and are always grateful for their comments, both positive and negative. We were really sorry to read you did not enjoy spending time with our guide, even though you found him to be very nice and knowledgeable. We agree with you, our staff should be able to communicate the history behind the artwork while engaging their audience at the same time, as that makes for the perfect experience. At the same time though, the David is one of the 2 highlights on this tour, and most of our clientele comes from the other side of the world to be able to admire it, so 30 minutes talking about this particular statue and Michelangelo are not usually viewed as too much time. This is one of our most "complete" tours, so there is a lot of art and history involved. We apologise if it was not clear in the description, as you would probably would have enjoyed other services more! Again, we are terribly sorry for not meeting your expectations as we strive to always make our clients' time with us memorable. If you ever come back to Italy or visit any other countries we serve, please reach out to us, we would love to have the opportunity to make it up to you! Looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
Top of the Duomo

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable as we Explored the museum and the Duomo. What an amazing experience !
Explore 2 iconic Florence locations

We had such an amazing tour and knowledgeable guide Viola. She educated us on the historical significance of items that we would have likely missed if we had explored on our own. This tour is money well spent to gain a greater understanding of two iconic landmarks in Florence. I highly recommend this tour.
Must see in Florence

David was the highlight of this tour. Michelangelo was a gifted artist. The duomo was very good as well.
Poor Customer Care and Disappointing Experience
, Oct 2021
We had a train delay of 30 minutes and called two hours in advance to say we would be late. We were willing to join the tour late and do whatever it took to, at least, see two-thirds or half of the tour. After calling the tour operator's 888 number which is not reachable in Italy, I got through to Viator "customer care" who basically told me they would put in for a refund only to receive an email stating they will not refund even a portion of our $400! I do not recommend this tour or tour operator. I will also think twice about ever going through Viator again after having done so for several years.

Hello Victoria, Thank you for your feedback. I am terribly sorry that you were unable to join your tour, but due to our ticket times, we are unable to have clients join mid-tour. I can see our Guest Experience team offered an amendment free of charge - I apologise if you were not given that offer. Due to our Cancellation policy, we, unfortunately, cannot provide a refund for your booking. If you would like to discuss alternative options, please send an email to our Guest Experience team at Best, Amanda

Bernardo knew his way around the cathedral and its passages. I recommend it. It’s 460 steps to the top totally worth while.

The guide , whose name was Bernardo, was excellent. He knew very well the history behind the highlights of the cathedral, and the history behind the skyline of the city. We had the chance to enter special places in the cathedral
