Arrive at the entrance of the Scotch Whisky Experience, located right beside the Edinburgh Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your experience begins with a whisky barrel ride through a replica of the Scotch whisky distillery, during which the production processes for Scotch whisky are revealed.

Then, a whisky expert introduces you to the different aromas of whiskies before offering you a taste of your preferred whisky. Visitors aged under 18 can sample Irn Bru, a famous Scottish soft drink.

After viewing the world’s largest collection of Scotch whiskey, receive a crystal whisky tumbler to memorialize your visit to the Scotch Whisky Experience.

We went thinking it would be a little more fast paced, there was alot of waiting for other slower people to get around to coming in then there was too many people to fit around the tasting table so of course that took time. Small children running around, it just wasn't a very pleasant experience.

This tour is really good! Very informative and well outlined. There is like a train-ride with animation that presents a small introduction about the production of whisky. After that, a tour guide will gather everyone in a room and present more things and eventually the guide gives the whisky for tasting. I booked the silver tour and eventually wished I had booked to the gold one instead. I highly recommend this tour, book the gold tour!

This place is amazing! I bought this tour as a Christmas present for my husband and I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. The location is perfect! It's next to the Edinburgh castle. The ride in the barrel at the beginning is fun, then you get a scratch card so you can smell the different flavor notes for the different regions. Then they give you a tasting we had our 5 and 3 year old children with us and they gave them a bottle of apple juice and walk you into a room filled with Scotch bottles. It's a sight to be seen! You also get to keep your Glencairn glass! We had such a great time!! A must do in Edinburgh, because Scotch is everywhere!
