Walking Tour

We had a very enjoyable and informative walking tour around Edinburgh with Stuart as our guide. We were taken to places that we would have probably never found by ourselves, or have any inkling of the fascinating history that these places have. Three hours very well spent. Iain & Jan.

Incredible Tour With A Historical Figure

What made this an experience I will never forget is that Stuart Usher was my guide. His great family donated the landmark Usher Hall to the City Of Edinburgh before being embezzled by a network of lawyers etc. I thoroughly recommend Stuart’s book which has featured on TV. His deep love for the city and the passion which with he explains the history of this magical city is an experience that will always stay with me. It was like doing a tour of Prague with a descendent of Mozart or touring Paris with a Royalfamily member. Highly recommended

Dear NJ-D Great thanks to you for your v fulsome Review of the great Tour we had together. You flatter me..... Mozart was a genius and I have never been that. He was an incredible man and such a pity that he died so young at the pinnacle of his musical powers. I would love to host you again!? How about a Private Tour alone with me? We could then go to the other parts of Edinburgh which you have not yet visited. Many thanks again. Stuart U

Richard was an excellent guide, taking us to parts of the old town which we had never visited before, or even knew existed. The warming hot chocolate in Deacon Brodie’s cafe, hidden away off the Lawnmarket, was very welcome. Lots of tales of old Edinburgh kept us entertained throughout the walk.

Entertaining introduction to Royal Mile

Stuart was an engaging guide who gave a great introduction to the Royal Mile. He was also helpful pointing out things we may want to return to later in our visit, as well as good places to shop for authentic souvenirs. We really appreciated his knowledge of things along the Royal Mile as well as his recommendations for further exploration.

Excellent and Witty Walking Tour

We had an amazing walking tour with Stuart Usher, who is quite the character. Our 3-hour walking tour started at Usher Hall, note the family name, and we were lucky in that the other participants didn’t show up, so we had the pleasure of a private tour with Stuart. We walked up past the castle and spent most of the tour in the Old Town. Stuart was a great guide, extremely knowledgeable about Scotland and Edinburgh’s history, and many other topics, for that matter. We especially loved the stop at the café, where we continued to hear stories of Edinburgh’s notorious Deacon Brody. Stuart provided us with a great history of the city, and his witty storytelling was a highlight of the tour. I highly recommend spending a couple hours with Stuart, he’ll completely enchant you.

Eclectic but engaging

A bit of a wander, on the surface, but on the whole tour was a good mix of historical detail, literary reference, and geography of the city. Guide is a bit of a character but engaging and well versed in the little details that make the city come more alive.
