Montenegro Bay Cruise with Lunch on the Boat day trip

Average tour, felt a little budget experience. Tour guide was great though

This tour has two sections, one a 5 star and the other a 1 star - the 5 star is longest so my overall score is 3.5. The middle part where you get on the boat at 10am to where you get back on the coach at 5pm is fantastic the trip through the bays by way of the Lady of the Rocks to Kotor and the time spent there makes the tour worthwhile. However, the time on the coach before 10am and after 5pm is tedious because of the border crossing with Montenegro total 6 hours for us. Maybe we were unlucky - outbound the computer was down and inbound the queue was loooong even though our excellent guide negotiated a short cut for our coach. We are not sorry we took the trip and it's good value for what you get 4 an hour! but take something to amuse you.

We had a fairly nice time on this tour, but the description is totally misleading. It isn't a 'full-day boat cruise' at all, and to me the description makes it sound like you board the boat in Dubrovnik or the other locations and sail down to Montenegro. I booked this trip due to a fear of coaches on mountainous roads - didn't avoid this at all! Although the roads aren't that bad luckily. A small bus took us to a bigger bus, on which we made our way down to Montenegro I think this took about 2.5 hours, as the queues at the Croatian border are often long as I guide told us. I had also stated our pickup location as our apartment address - only to call to confirm this the day before and be told we had to make our way to another hotel, and that Viator should have emailed me about it they didn't - so I'd be cautious and call the tour directors to confirm your pickup beforehand. Once we finally got to a small harbour in Montenegro, we boarded a small boat - and it was small and pretty uncomfortable to be honest as there was a full bus of us crammed in. My friend was 7 months pregnant and had to have her legs squashed up for about an hour and a half to two hours. If you're in the middle of the boat it's quite hard to take pictures. This small boat takes you up the coast and to the 'Blue Grotto' cave, which is ok but not that impressive...the coast is very pretty however. You then get off the small boat and onto the big boat, which is where this tour got a lot better! We had lunch on the boat which was good - my friend had the fish course which wasn't great, mackerel was really burnt and inedible, but the other options were ok given they're catering to lots of people you join other tour groups on the big boat. The big boat then leisurely sails to Kotor, stopping at the Lady of the Rocks and also you get an opportunity to swim in the sea before arriving at Kotor we didn't know this and some of us didn't have swimming gear. Once you arrive at Kotor, really not enough time to even get a drink, let alone look around the city at all - we only had 45 minutes, before boarding the coach again and heading back to Dubrovnik All in all the tour was enjoyable, just disappointing when you think you're going to spend most of the day travelling by boat, when actually it's by coach with a bit of a boat trip!

This is a great tour to get a feel for the bay of Kotor from land and sea. The travel by coach across the border into Montenegro is informative with a brief comfort break on the way. Once across the border, we quickly transferred to a boat for the bay cruise, the visit to the blue cave is not a promise - unfortunately it was too windy to do the cave or the full tour seaward. Lunch was excellent on a larger boat that catered for several groups and plenty of time for swimming. Visit to the Island of our Lady was. Interesting but didn't really need as much time as we. We're given, the visit to Kotor was a highlight but one hour is not enough to do this beautiful place justice! As I was taking the tour to travel mostly by boat and to see Kotor, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't have longer in Kotor itself.

First boat was way too small, couldn't even move on it. And the initial communication and description here is not very good as there is an opportunity to swim in a blue cove that we had no idea we would have and so no one on the tiny boat had their bathing suit, nor any room or bathroom to change. Other than that great day out! We visited many sites, eventually switched to a different and much roomier boat with a decent 3 course lunch. On that boat we had an opportunity to jump off the big boat into the Adriatic Sea for a fun swim, before heading back. Also take notice if your purchasing this trip - you have to drive through the border on the tour bus expect delays. Also the tour guide was very informative and did a great job of keeping us on track and moving smoothly. If it wasn't for the first boat i'd give 5 stars.

That was actually a really nice day tour. We are a couple and really enjoy the trip. The dinner on the boat was really nice and the view amazing. The time we spent in Kotor is a little short but you have enough time to look around Kotor which is really small. I really recommend that tour.
