Overview

Explore Northern Ireland's biggest draws — Belfast, Giant’s Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge — on a day trip from Dublin. In a traditional black cab in Belfast, you’ll explore sites of the capital’s conflicted history: the mural-strewn streets of the Falls and Skankill neighborhoods and the Belfast Docks. Then course along the Antrim Coast to experience one of Ireland great geological marvels, the UNESCO World Heritage Site–listed Giant’s Causeway, followed by a stop at the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Marvel at the surrounding headlands that were also used as a filming location for many Game of Thrones scenes.
  • Travel along the Antrim Coastal Drive and admire the scenery from your luxury coach
  • Giants Causeway & Visitor Heritage Centre, 2 hour stop. The only tour from Dublin to offer both attractions at the Giants Causeway. Also a complimentary walking tour of the Giants Causeway Coast available which is optional whether to take or not.
  • Belfast Black Cab Tour, 2 hour stop. A complete tour offering the passenger the opportunity to walk and record the various locations synonymous with the city's troubled history.
  • Carrick A Rede Bridge – 1 hour 30 minute stop. Premium tickets to walk across the rope bridge included. (optional to cross)

Your full-day tour of Northern Ireland’s major sights starts with early-morning pickup in central Dublin. (Enjoy a 20 minute rest stop to take coffee and snacks before taking the Black Cab tour in Belfast. There you will have bathroom facilities with a range of vendors to buy hot and cold drinks, fresh food, light snacks and packed lunches. The same stop will be visited on the return journey fro Dublin).

An iconic black cab awaits you in Northern Ireland’s beautiful and infamous capital. This tour gives you a safe and introspective account of this impassioned city, most well known for its history of political and religious unrest. Explore Belfast’s Falls and Skankill neighborhoods, where hundreds of ornate murals impart Unionist and Nationalist political messaging in glorious color. Learn of the city’s industrial roots, its divisive conflict and its current youthful revival.

During the tour, you’ll see several of Belfast’s top attractions, including sites such as the Belfast Docks and the Harland and Wolff shipyard — snapshots of the city’s industrial beginnings. If the sentiment takes you, feel free to request a stop at other notable sites like the Peace Wall, where you can add your name to those of other peacemakers who have touched this monumental city.

The next leg of your journey is the grand Antrim Coastal Drive, taking you along Ireland’s wild, rocky north coast for dramatic sea views and the fairy-tale glens of Antrim. Speaking of drama, catch a view of Dunluce Castle, a medieval construction that’s enjoying a second life is as the House of Greyjoy in the award-winning TV series Game of Thrones.

The 2-hour drive brings you to the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Giant’s Causeway. Stretch your legs and enjoy a meander through this geological wonder that has been the source of many Irish myths. Then punctuate your tour of the north with an invigorating walk across the teetering, 80-foot-high (24-meter) Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (not for the faint-hearted!). After you’ve had your adrenaline boost for the day (or year), get cozy in your coach seat for the return ride back to central Dublin.

Absolutely do this tour!

The tour was excellent!! The Black cab tour was fascinating, bringing recent history to life. Our guide was informative and generous with his memories. The Giant's causeway is a spectacular site. The rope bridge was an adventure. Our guides Tara (guide) and Pat (driver) were the icing on the cake. The coach was clean and comfortable - the guides were fun, interactive and entertaining. They gave excellent recommendations and helped us plan the rest of our Ireland trip! We tried a different tour company for a wicklow tour - don't make the same mistake! Would absolutely stick with viator.

Extremely well run tour

Fabulous trip, made in March 2020. The tour ran extremely well, timed to perfection by the driver; and the commentary throughout was very informative and clear. We were well looked after, and informed that the corona-virus directives were implemented for our peace of mind. The political tour of Belfast by the black cab driver was great, taking us to various places and allowing us time to get into the open and view, listen and take photos. The black cab tour was longer than expected but interactions were very relaxed and the comments interesting. The tour bus stops gave ideal time for toileting/ snacks, and the Giants' Causeway and rope bridge were well worth the visit. Extremely well-run tour. We enjoyed every minute. Well done!

What an amazing day trip!

We had an amazing time with tour guide, Tara, and bus driver, James. Giant's Causeway alone is worth the trip! Truly, it's a remarkable place and we had a great tour there too from Keith--a very knowledgable and fun guide. We also thoroughly enjoyed the political taxi tour hosted by an extremely knowledgable guide, who I believe was named Michael--another great gentleman. The whole day was just grand and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ireland. Although it was too windy for the rope bridge, Tara and James took us to the Dark Hedges, from Game of Thrones fame, which was really cool. Thanks again for such a wonderful day trip!

Giants in a time gone by.

Seamus O'Brien, our guide, presented us with a wonderfully understandable explanation of the geology and history of the Giant's Causeway. In addition, he recounted the legend of the giant Finn MacCoul. He made all aspects of the tour come alive. All this occurred in the pouring rain and howling wind...I can't imagine how interesting and how much fun it would be on a calm sunny day. The rope bridge was enjoyed by others on the trip, but we declined to experience the bridge (fear of heights). This was a truly enjoyable trip.

Great day trip to Northern Ireland

Tara was a fantastic guide and James was an excellent and safe driver. Such a great day trip to get into Northern Ireland without the worry of having to drive. The stops on the tour were appropriately timed and gave us enough time to enjoy without too much of a rush. The only thing we didn't get to do was the bridge because of the high winds, but Tara and James gave us alternative stops to make up for it. We were disappointed, but nothing we could do about the weather. I also appreciated that Tara provided us with great restaurant recommendations in Dublin that would suit anyones needs.

Great local guides in Belfast

Had an amazing day! I particularly enjoyed the taxi ride to places of historic and political importance in Belfast, we got a unique perspective on events from the local taxi driver. The causeway and the bridge were also great, wonderful nature. The tour was organised very responsibly with social distancing and ample opportunities to wash hands before getting back on the bus.

Great Trip

Great trip, Seamus was a fantastic guide. Good value for money. National trust guide at the Giant’s Causeway was disappointing we didn’t really find out much about the geology of the site - so would recommend the audio or learning about it before.

Wild Rover does a great job. It is nice to have a guide and a driver. The black taxi cab tour was very interesting but a little depressing. The Giant's causeway was freezing cold but very cool.
