Overview

Submit to the realm of the supernatural on a walking tour of Northside, one of Dublin’s most-haunted districts. Alongside a guide, you’ll explore the former Viking enclave — renowned for a plethora of ghost sightings — and visit spine-chilling structures such as St. Mary’s Abbey and Hendrick Street, the former site of Dublin’s most haunted houses.
  • 2-hour ghost walking tour of Dublin
  • Ideal for travelers fascinated by the supernatural
  • Explore Northside, formerly Oxmantown, a former Viking enclave where countless ghost sightings have been reported
  • Visit notoriously haunted locations such as St. Mary's Abbey and Hendrick Street
  • Listen to stories of treason, torture, and murder
Your ghost tour begins outside of the Church Bar, located on Jervis Street, at 8pm. After a brief introduction to Dublin’s haunted history, you’ll walk through the former Viking enclave, one of the oldest parts of Dublin, to the site of St. Mary’s Abbey, a monastic settlement dating back to medieval times.

Listen to tales of Lord Norbury, the sadistic hanging judge, the vicious Robert Emmet, and the legend of Scaldbrother, an infamous medieval thief whose stolen treasure still lurks in the labyrinth of chambers beneath the city.

Then, beneath the cloak of darkness, weave your wicked way down Hendrick, the former site of two of Dublin’s most haunted houses.

Your tour concludes at the Brazen Head pub at around 10pm.

St. Michan's Church
You might want to steel your nerves before venturing with us to Croppie’s Acre. This long-abandoned site was used as a football pitch in the 20th century. Shocking when you consider that it is a mass grave – the final resting place of hundreds of rebels executed after the 1798 rebellion. If you are of a sensitive disposition, you may well come away feeling disturbed. Sometimes, the spirits here attempt communication!

St. Mary's Abbey
With more than a thousand years of history, Dublin is one of the most haunted cities in the world. Walk through one of the oldest parts of Dublin; the area once known as Oxmantown with its rich haunted history. You will discover the site of Saint Mary’s Abbey; one of the most powerful monastic settlements in Ireland in medieval times, now just a small ruin down an alleyway, passed by thousands of oblivious commuters every day.
Pass By:
The Brazen Head
You will hear the story of Lord Norbury, the infamous and sadistic ‘Hanging Judge’ who presided over the trial of Robert Emmet. Hated in life, in death he returned to continue his reign of terror. Emmet himself might make an appearance, for it is said he can still be found peering out of the window at The Brazen Head, looking to see if those who approach are friend or foe. You will learn the legend of Scaldbrother, the infamous medieval thief whose buried treasure may still lie in a labyrinth of tunnels under Smithfield. Not to mention Billy the Bowl, the 18th century murderer, born without legs, who once terrorized Stoneybatter and Grangegorman. If you are feeling brave enough, we will take you down Hendrick Street, once the site of two of the most haunted houses in Dublin. Between them, nos. 7 and 8 Hendrick Street were home to no fewer than six different ghosts. Demolished in the 1960’s, the houses are long gone, but the ghosts may still linger.

Bad Experience

We tried to call/email the tour to find out how we were going to be transported to the start location. They had said they would call us to give information but they never called and did not pick up phone or answer emails. This was during the shutdown of restaurants and bars but even after they did not respond to our requests. We were charged the full amount and they haven't responded to us as to a refund.

Disappointed

Booked because it was a walking tour. They cancelled 2.5 hours before scheduled start time and rebooked is on the “Gravedigger” tour. Was told there was some walking- wrong! It’s a hokey double decker bus tour that was farthest then what we wanted. My kids thought it wasn’t fun either. The tour we ended up with was shorter than the one we booked and included an extended stop at a pub. If I had know this, I would have preferred a refund.

Good Tour for historical knowledge

I enjoyed this tour for sure. I wouldn't call it scary at all, just focused more on dark history of the city. I would recommend it for someone who enjoys hearing about history and exploring, but not for someone who wants to do something specifically scary like visit a graveyard or go into a haunted house.
