A MUST SEE TOUR FOR ALL AGES
JEFFREY_L

We were SO impressed with Kristine and her extensive knowledge of the artwork displayed in this area of Denver. She introduced us to a whole different world of art and some of the people behind it all. Everyone coming to Denver should take this tour with Kristine and be amazed at the quantity and quality of the graffiti posted in this part of town. BTW the Chocolate Almond Croissant at the Market was a fabulous way to cap off the tour.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made this 2 hour tour seem far less. We got some history, some art lessons and got a great feel for the genre and area. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent tour. Kristina was the guide and she is very knowledgeable about the different types of street art that she showed us. Good explanations of different techniques of spray painting, stenciling, stickering, etc. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an appreciation of art and the local culture in the RiNo part of Denver.

Even though I live in Denver, I had never really explored Rino.. I was very impressed with the area overall and the types of murals that were very professionally explained to us by Aaron. I enjoyed learning about some of the artists and also seeing a few in action in some of the more obscure alleys.

Aaron was a fabulous tour guide who gave a great overview of public and graffiti art, the various forms, and the evolution of the form and the neighborhoods of Five Points aka Rino. I enjoyed the pacing, his love of the art form s, and his efforts to keep the group engaged. PS i feel like i have a great sense of the artists in the area now. I would highly recommend.

Loved the Tour But Knowledge of Graffiti Culture and Technique Was Missing
Kim_M
, Jul 2021
It was incredible to see the beautiful murals and all the work Denver has put into supporting and uplifting artists. Mackenzie - our guide - was great and had personal knowledge of many of the artists. I really appreciated her highlighting women and LGBT2Q artists! My only request would be to add the history of graffiti – “graf” - as well as to understand and include the importance of the different styles of graffiti on the tour. So much of this was there in plain site, but excluded in the stops and conversation - including wheat pasting, slap tags, different letter styles and techniques - bubble, wild style, block, fire extinguisher, tagging, throw-ups (throwies), stencils, piecing, bombing, crochet covering of poles and crochet sculptures, and use of tape and stencils, especially in the creation of some larger images. People should for sure learn that graffiti has existed since humankind has existed, and that the modern version of graffiti is a key component of hip hop culture - created with spray paint as the central ingredient - and brought to life by Black and Brown youth in NYC and Philly, known as “graf writers” or “aerosol artists” – who risked and still risk death, police violence, arrest and incarceration to “get up.” Their creations sparked a worldwide art explosion. Denver’s art – and graffiti murals everywhere – would not exist without their sacrifice and inspiration. It's a great loss to the people on the tour and disrespectful to urban communities of color that the roots, creators and techniques of graffiti were left out.
