Your 16-hour day trip to Rainbow Mountain starts bright and early with a 3:30am pickup from your Cusco hotel. The day begins very early in the morning, but the trip is well worth it. Plus, numbers are limited to 14 people on this small-group tour, ensuring you'll spend an intimate day with a small group of like-minded explorers.

Your drive from Cusco takes about three hours, so sit back and relax. Before your hike starts, stop to enjoy a light breakfast. Afterward, your guide and small group sets out on the 3- to 4-hour hike to the mountains.

Once you make it to the summit, rest a bit before admiring the stunning views of the mountains. The mountains get their name from their beautiful rainbow-like coloring. Take all the photos you’d like, and then head down to lower altitudes where you can stop for lunch.

Your driver will be waiting for your group and guide at the trailhead. Hop back into your vehicle for a 3-hour drive to your Cusco hotel. You’ll get to your hotel sometime between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.

We had an awesome time!!! The tour was fantastic. Diomedes was very attentive to my friends who were struggling a little with the altitude. He carried an oxygen tank just in case. Santiago, the driver, was also with us. He was a great driver! The road was dirt after the cutoff for about an hour or so. Cute countryside! What a beautiful area! So glad we did it!

Wonderful. Our guide was so amazing, this hike is a pretty tough hike and we were suffering from some altitude sickness. Our guide stayed with us and kept encouraging us to make it to the top. It was absolutely worth it when you made it to the top, and I would not have been able to get there without the help of our guide. I would highly recommend this tour.

The landscape was gorgeous. However, it was not worth spending money on this tour. Food was not good. The group was very slow so we went ahead and we had very little interaction with guides.

The Rainbow Valley Tour was an amazing tour. Early in the morning, I was greeted by the guide and not much later picked up by the bus. Its about a 3hrs drive to a little village where breakfast is served at a local families house. From there we went to the valley and started the trek. Be prepared for the differences in heights and different levels of air/oxygen. The hike is a great experience, the guide Edwin was great. In the valley, the weather changes every other minute. When I made it to the top, it just had become misty/cloudy. Even though it was a great hike and definitely a place to go to when visiting Peru!

This was one of the worst tours I've ever been. You can get the same tour on Cusco for 1/5 of the price. I asked around the people on my same tour I they paid 1/5 of what I paid. The service is terrible. We never saw the guide during the whole trekking, they didn't have any oxygen, they charged apart from entrance and horse service. The place is amazing but don't waste your money. Book your tour when you arrive to Cusco.

You must be in good physical condition altitude is uncomfortable to be at 5200 meters high is worth the scenery is spectacular and an incredible view that is in the list of 100 things before your die, you must carry water and chocolates to have energy at the end It is a great reward. If you have dietary restrictions, bring your own food. This is a long day. Gave rep list of foods I can't eat, was told this was ok, when we got there the info had not been passed on, and I was only given food I couldn't eat. There is nowhere else nearby to buy food. The views from the top are stunning. Worth doing for this. The trek is very hard due to the altitude - up to 5200 metres. Even if you are physically fit you may need to hire a horse. Do not pay the horse people directly! You are supposed to pay on the gate on the way out. Fee for the horse should be 70 to 80 sol. The horse people may try to lead you round the other way and overcharge you. Keep an eye on where they are taking you and try to stick with the rest of the group.
