Tremendous Experience

Our guide, Cruz, was wonderful. He asked us what we wanted to know as to cater his presentation to us and our wants. He was very informative and easy-going. It was a small tour so it was more personalized versus a big tour group which you get a stock tour. Not only do I recommend them for others, I would go back again and ask for different information.

Best excursion in Costa Maya!!

This was such a great tour!! The bonus, was we were the only group on the tour so we basically got a private tour with our guides! They were very knowledgeable about the area and were able to give us some great information about the area and the ruins. They spoke to us about everything they knew and really gave us some great information. The ruins were very nice and lots of shade. The trees were gorgeous and the ruins were just remarkable. You didn't even have to walk to far to get up to see the other 2. You had the option of 32 steps or 12, so I went with the 12 while my teens went with the 32. Either way you got to the top and were able to see the other 2 ruins and it was just breathtaking. Stopping for pineapple was the tip of the iceberg!! Just so good!! I would definitely recommend this trip for everyone!!

Absolutely loved this excursion! This was our last port day on our cruise and we wanted to do something a little different than a traditional beach day so we chose to visit the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins which was an amazing place to visot! Our tour guide Cruze was very knowledgeable, hands on and did his best to personalize the experience to each person/family. I would highly recommend this excursion if you’re visiting Costa Maya!

Great Half Day Tour

Did not get off to a good start as the confirmation email said the excursion was to depart at 9:00 local time which was in fact 8:00 Ship time. Our ship did not disembark until 8:30, 9:30 local time, so we rushed to the office hoping we did not miss the excursion. We got there, checked in with no issues with no one saying a word about us being late. We figured it was just a mix up between the local and ship time and all was good. We were offered a bottle of water and asked to sit outside and wait. After about 10 mins our tour guide Cruz came up to us and asked us if we knew that we were really early and that the excursion is not due to depart until 11? We were shocked and showed him our confirmation letter and he did not know what to say. He apologized profusely and said that if every else on the tour showed up early we would could leave early. Long story short, everyone else showed up within half an hour so thank goodness we left by 9:45 ship time. The guide himself, Cruz, was very good. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the region, the ruins and the Mayan civilization. He provided a very customized tour and catered to our groups interests. The ruins themselves were fascinating. Not an extensive and varied amount by any means but we knew that going in and choose the site as we did not want a long trip to get to some of the other ruins in the area. Over all I would highly recommend this excursion if you are looking for a half day adventure. Only disappointment was not seeing any monkeys.

Very Impressive Mayan Ruins

Geronimo, our guide and Rocky, our driver gathered us up at the tour office which was a short walk outside the cruise port in Costa Maya. We then rode the short bus for a long ride to the Mayan ruins. The ruins were very impressive and Geronimo was very knowledgeable. Those considering this tour should know that there is considerable walking over uneven ground and climbing large irregular steps. Anyone with mobility issues should avoid this tour. Although Geronimo was a very knowledgeable guide and did a good job, he is a young, fast walker and we had trouble keeping up.

Coral was a fantastic tour guide! Effortlessly knowledgeable and really friendly, too. Company was organized and professional, and we encountered no problems with our relatively short window at port. Can’t imagine a better way to see these ruins. Book them!

Cost Maya excursion to Chacchoben
WilliamKenneth_A
, Mar 2020
I had booked in advance for my wife and me. We were joined by 2 other couples who had booked separately. We had an hour drive each way and about 2 hours at Chacchoben. The minibus and the drive was comfortable. Our guide was really knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and the archaeology. She explained it all en route in perfect English and answered all questions. We saw three pyramids at Chacchoben and we found it all very interesting. We had a short stop in a local village where we could buy fresh pineapple and mango from the stalls. Better value than with the ship excursion and a much smaller group!
