We can’t say enough great things about Mourad, our private driver/ guide. We have always wanted to visit Casablanca and Marrakech and today our dream came true. Mourad was waiting for us at the cruise ship terminal in Casablanca. We were immediately impressed by Mourad’s professional appearance in his uniform, very friendly, and efficient manner. He had us on the road in minutes! Mourad was so flexible and accommodating. He took us first for the photo stops we wanted in Casablanca and showed us more wonderful sights he knew of. Then, as the song says, we were on the road to Marrakech in a very luxurious and comfortable vehicle. Mourad had thoughtfully provided bottled water for the 2 1/2 hour ride. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about his country and the miles flew by as Mourad shared interesting information with us. We love to take pictures and Mourad was so great at making sure we got the many shots we wanted along the way. As we approached Marrakech, Mourad pointed out many historical and cultural places of interest. He then picked up our local guide, Mohammed, for our afternoon tour of Marrakech. The communication during the afternoon between Mourad and Mohammed was perfect and every minute was used to make sure we saw everything on our very long list. Touring this amazing city with such personable and organized driver/guides( who now felt like friends) was truly a day to remember forever and the highlight of our cruise. Seeing the Medina, the souks, Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Minaret, and Jemaa el-Fnaa Square was topped off with a delicious meal at a local Berber restaurant. We know we were very lucky to have Mourad and Mohammed give us more than we could ever have imagined on this day. Before heading back to Marrakech, Mourad had one more delight in store for us: he took us to the Palmeraie area of Marrakech for a camel ride. We wore traditional Berber clothing and were led through the palm groves. Mourad made sure to take many pictures and videos of the great fun we had riding the camels. As all good things must come to an end, Mourad drove us back to Casablanca in plenty of time to board our ship. Mourad was always very considerate and anticipated every need;offering stops for restroom breaks and treating us to refreshing Morrocan mint tea along the way. We know so much of our enjoyment and the memories we take home from Morroco are because we were with Mourad and recommend him highly to anyone who wants to experience Morroco with someone who loves his job, his country, and the tourists he shares this with. This was the second day we had Amin as our driver. We were happy to see him! Our hotel parking lot was packed; he diplomatically and with a smile got everyone to maneuver around so there was space for us to get out. He gave us waters, WiFi and we were off. We got to the Marakech airport from Casablanca with plenty of time to spare!
