Horrible experience

Horrible Horrible experience! First they said they we’re going to pick us up at 6am and they got here at 7am! The boat that we were supposed to get in wasn’t what they promised! I thought it was going to be a decent sport boat and it ended up being a small wooden boat! We had to leave because it wasn’t what we wanted! We call and ask for a change of tour and they said no! I lost my money and the whole day! Please don’t go to this tour! It’s not what you expect!!!

We loved this trip during our time in Cartagena. They called the day prior to let us know the pickup time and were timely the day of. Great way to see rural areas outside the city on hour bus ride to playa banca. This isn’t a luxury trip (no running water where you stop for lunch), but it’s tons of fun. Would definitely recommend.

I loved the tour. We had ample time at each stop to really enjoy ourselves. The VIP boat is very comfortable and the sites we visited were definitely worth it. Santiago our guide, was fantastic keeping us entertained with interesting facts and lovely music as well as guiding us during the snorkelling. Highlight of my stay in Cartagena

This is a very good tour. The Islands are beautiful, a must see for anyone who visits Cartagena. Jesus Herazo was our tour guide, he was very knowledgeable, professional, and attentive always asking everyone if we were OK or if we needed something. I would recommend this tour 100%.

If you want to visit the Islands choose a different company. Its a really poor experience overall esspecially for the price you're paying. Tour guide was rude and the places we stopped at which hosted us were not good. The islands are worth visiting except for Cholon, I would describe Cholon as tacky, tacky and tacky. Avoid Cholon and find a diifferent tour company.

Poor trip

Guide was not friendly at all.... He arrived very late to Pick up us and at the end he tried to be more friendly by giving us some entrance to a night club... But they were fake... Very little time in cholon and a long time un Baru that is a huge difference on views and environment... Baru is actually kind of ugly... We supposed to go to an island to get fresh ceviche that was included and we never went... It was overpriced of what is offer.... Also it starts to early and ends very early as well...

All Great except Cholon

Jesus was awesome! John Wayne was also great and the boat crew! I think pargo option should be included on trip, it was delicious. All was great except for Cholon, I would have rather stayed on first island longer than go to Cholon. It wasn't enjoyable bc it was crowded, not really a place to put your stuff, forced to be in the water. Overall the day excursion was enjoyable!

Beautiful Islands, Awful Company

I have purchased MANY trips on Viator that have been great & have accurate website descriptions. However, this tour was NOT exactly what it said.We are two adults in our early 30's, friends traveling together, that have used Viator trips around the world with hardly any issues ever. First of all, the tour company BackpackersCTG emailed us to say the pickup was at 7-7:30 am. We prepared to be ready by 7. At 6:30am, the tour operator arrived at our hotel, while my friend was still in the shower!!! Unacceptable. We had to make them come back at 7 to get us. Then, when the person came to pick us up at 7 and saw us holding towels, they told us we could go back to our room to drop them off since towels would be provided by the tour guide at every stop. Thank goodness we didn’t listen to him, because there were NO TOWELS anywhere to be found on the trip. On the actual island hopping tour – the speedboat was NOT a typical speedboat anyone was expecting after paying $95+ each person. They used a SMALL fishing boat and crammed 18 people on top of each other- one seat was meant for one person, but they sat 2 people together. It was insane and uncomfortable in extremely hot conditions. Not to mention, extremely unsafe for the amount of people on the boat versus the weight & choppiness of the sea. The boat driver went very fast in rocky waters and people were flying out of their seats. Many of us were worried the boat would flip since it was so small. In addition, there were many men on the trip for a bachelor party that purchased TWO large foam coolers for their alcohol, which took up even more room on the boat that should have been for PEOPLE. The guides NEVER told them it was too big or too much to put on such a teeny boat. Then, on our way back from the tour, the air conditioner was not working on the van. They DID NOT replace the van and were driving with the windows and doors open. Again, very unsafe. This is absolutely unacceptable for a tour that costs $95 per person. I have spent several hundred or even thousands of dollars on tours with Viator over the years throughout my worldly journeys including with friends and family who have also made purchases, and I have never had an experience like this. The islands were gorgeous & we had a great time swimming, snorkeling, enjoying the warm clear waters & beauty of the islands. But you can definitely see the same thing from a better, more organized, SAFE company! We requested a full refund.

Totally Worth It

Our tour guide was Osmel, he was a great guide and had a very cheerful presence. The tour itself was great value for the price. You get picked up right outside your accommodation and they take care of everything from start to finish. We start off at Playa Blanca to get into a small boat (~15 people) and then we went to 3 different locations, spending 1-1.5h at each location. The three places were very different from each other and was a good overview of the Rosario Islands. The water is crystal clear and so beautiful. Highly recommend it!

First of all great customer service from back packers... will definitely book with them all the time again. They confirmed the pick up the night before. Arrived on time. Jesus picked up on a separate van due to our hotel was estelar playa manzanillo and the farthest from cartagena. Then we met up with osmel at cartagena ( the best ever) To pick up the rest of the tour members. Made our 45 min trip to isla baru super nice talking and introducing everyone each other Stoped for a quick breakfast ( arepas. Fruir and juices.) Then we head to explore the islands. We did snorkeling with our 7 and 9 years old kids. Our 7 year old got tired almost toward the end of the activity and let me tell you ... osmel went back to swim my daughter back to the boat... ( great job osmel) Then we went to cholon ( great place for party) drinks and music.then agua azul, shrimp and octopus cocktail with fruit. Great relaxing place awesome for our kids.. my son buried himself in the sand.. again osmel helped him... back to playa grande for a great lunch and beach. Although a lot of people trying to sell you all kind of stuff. ( just say no thanks). Back to the bus (45min ride) They transferred us to anothe van so we didn’t have to wait for the rest of people to be dropped of in cartagena while we stay in estelar Playa Manzanillo. Again jesus made the drive... just an amazing day with backpackers.
