Your tour begins with an early morning departure. Arriving at Chichen Itza, join your specialized guide for an in-depth tour of the site, and enjoy the tranquility of your early-morning visit before the crowds arrive. Throughout the trip, your archaeological guide’s commentary provides essential background to the well-preserved site of Chichen Itza. Learn how this large pre-Colombian city played an important role in Mayan civilization from around A.D. 600 to 1200, and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spanish. Even today, it is still considered a sacred site by the Yucatán peninsula’s Maya population. Like many of ancient Mexico’s cities, the site was abandoned, and its ruins were hidden by jungle. Hear how the site was discovered and unearthed by archaeologists, gaining UNESCO protection and considered today one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your guide will explain the philosophy, cosmology and mythology behind this ancient site, such as the meaning of the stone carvings, pyramids, platforms, ball courts and staircases. Visit the Observatory, Temple of the Jaguars, Temple of the Warriors and of course the famous El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulkan.  Return around 3:00 p.m. With this Viator Exclusive, your early morning trip to Chichen Itza helps you to beat the crowds so you can enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I can’t recommend enough! Marco and his crew are PHENOMENAL. We learned so much aboutt the ancient Mayans, got amazing pictures, ate the most AMAZING lunch, and swam in a beautiful cenoté. My boyfriend lost is Apple Watch in the cenoté when he jumped in and the lifeguard offered to dive down and get it for him and actually found it! Everyone was so nice and well informed, ESPECIALLY Marco. We did the 6am tour and even though it was a long day it was 100000% worth it. Book this tour you won’t regret it!

Fun getaway
, Jun 2021
First I want to start by sharing just how great this team of Antonio and David were. We could not have had more knowledgeable or better guides. I loved the excursion overall. I will say from Cancun this is a long way away, so be prepared for that. Also we got a little hung up on the lunch/shopping stop and came back about 30 minutes later than was planned, which impacted our dinner plans, otherwise I may have given it a 5.
Amazing tour

This was a great trip! Marcos was a very knowledgeable guide. We drove through valladolid and then went to chichen itza. After, we went to eat. Finally we visited a cenote for an hour. He excelled at making you feel comfortable! It was easy to figure out a place to be picked up at, even being at an Airbnb. I definitely recommend this amazing day trip!
Cancelled on me last minute
, Jun 2021
They canceled on me last minute. I was suppose to depart at 6:30am to see Chichen Itza. At 7:30am I get notified the trip was cancelled. It was too late to book any other trip to see ruins. Very dissapointed, I came to Cancun to see these ruins and I was robbed of the chance.
Amazing 🤩 chichen-itza and Cenote! 2021
, Jun 2021
My experience was exceptional! Chiche-itza was absolutely amazing! Frank and Vicente knew so much about the culture and Mayan history. The food was delicious and the Cenote was beautiful to swim into. I recommend you and a friend go and see how this can change your life!!
Great experience!

Marco and efrain were great! Funny and informative trip! They kept us entertained and made our trip a memorable one!
It was nice but its something I don't think I'll do again.

We received a message day before excursion to promptly be ready by pick up time. They were late picking us up. It is a 2 hour drive to destination from Cancun so if u can I would recommend a splurge on your own vehicle so your not crammed in a bus. We had a passenger who was coughing the WHOLE trip it was very crappy. Her eyes were blood shot, runny nose, she was pale and obviously sick. I'm unsure as to why she wasn't asked to sit out or why she didn't take the initiative to not be selfish and just sit out. Our tour guide Vicente was awesome!! He was very educational and informative. Great sense or humor and took amazing pictures for us. Very satisfying. Cenote was gorgeous also. Pyramids were AMAZING. As long as the trip was I don't forsee myself doing it a 2nd time.

Fantastic experience, just understand some of the details to manage expectations.
, May 2021
This trip was fantastic. They picked us up at the hotel in Cancun in a large bus. Be warned, it takes them a long time to load the bus with lots of stops. It probably added an extra hour to the travel time to Chichen Itza. Also, I wanted to point out that the "Sunrise" part of the title is misleading. It may be around sunrise when the bus picks you up, but it'll be mid-morning by the time you get to the ruins. With all that being said, it was still worth it. The tour guide, Marco, was fantastic. He was educated as an archeologist and is actually married to a Mayan. He's been doing the tours for 30 years and he knows his stuff. The drive through Valladolid was very interesting. We weren't allowed to stop because of COVID restrictions, but the bus drove slowly through the city while Marco gave great explanations. We next went to Chichen Itza where the bus was divided into smaller tour groups of 10 with their own tour guide. Again, we happened to be in the group with Marco and he was fantastic. He doesn't go into the dates so much as tell the story of the Mayans that lived there. The whole thing was fascinating. After our time in Chichen Itza, we had lunch nearby. The food was excellent with plenty to eat. They strongly push the souvenirs at the place of lunch. They are higher quality souvenirs made (reportedly) by 50 local Mayan families but they're also much more expensive. We bought souvenirs here to support the locals but if you're just looking for some cheap things to take to the kids, they're cheaper (and probably made in China) at the ruins site. After lunch we were taken to the Cenote which was a magical place. Very awe inspiring. It was in a resort (I can't remember the name). Some took part in the tequila tasting, but we didn't do that part. Finally we boarded the bus and taken back to the hotel. The drop off went much faster than the pickup. All in all, we were gone for a total of 12+ hours from pickup to drop off. We really enjoyed the tour and as long as you understand the caveats above, it's well worth the effort.

Mediocre Expierence
, May 2021
VIP package was a total ripoff so definitely don’t purchase that. Also At the biginning of the trip they take you to a souvenir shop which is kinda annoying as they try to sell you stuff. The guide also rushes you through the chichen itza but spent plenty of time on other stuff. I would pick a different tour or better yet get a rental car and go yourself.

Dear Amig@ We really appreciate your comments. We do not fully understand why the tour was not to your liking, we would have loved to know your opinion in more detail. Dulce, Amigo Tours
Great trip with a little too many sales pitches
, May 2021
Chichen Itza is a must-see location and our guide at the site had great information to share! Plan to bring lots of water and prepare for full sun if you go in the warmer months! Pickup was on time and it was 100% worth it to pay for hotel pickup and not have to figure out a general pickup location. This is a larger tour group so quite a few stops are made for pickups and dropoffs. However, the guide on the bus was entertaining and very knowledgeable. The only con is that they heavily push purchasing souvenirs while at the lunch location and there are frequent sales pitches trying to get tourists to buy things. Definitely bring your credit card or pesos to pay the tax in the beginning and lifejackets at the cenote.
