Wow amazing experience! Our tour guide ulyesses was amazing every step of the way begin to end our drivers too our first driver literally waited until my cousin and mother in law ran to the shuttle bus he waited when he did not have to wait an extra two minutes. ulyesses Also never rushed us if we wanted to buy something last minute he said go buy and we will be waiting for you! He had so much knowledge of his people and culture and we learned so many things. Very detailed but of course kept us interested and never bored! Was a great experience I definitely recommend them. I think it was amigos tours just book on this app you won’t regret it!

Awful experience!
Maria_S
, Jul 2022
This was not a very good experience. Our guide Enrique and driver George were very nice but the company could have done better in providing more substance to this trip. It sounded more like they want tourist to buy things then learn the culture. Then it rained so hard when we were at Chitchen Itza, they did not even provide umbrellas or plastic raincoats for us, we were all drenched. It would have been nice to have those perks and feel you are taken care of. We saw others with umbrellas provided by their tour companies. It was an awful experience. The guide provides confusing instructions to us. It was not very clear. The only we really enjoy was swimming in Cenote. I have been in tour groups in other parts of the world and this is the worst ever i had experienced. The shuttle pick up/drop off from our hotel was a good perk because we paid extra. I think we only paid for getting to the places and get lured into buying than providing the experience we hoped to get. I would not recommend this to anyone. Or at least get a different tour company.

This Viator tour was operated by Amigo Tours. Frank was our guide, and Coronado was our driver. Frank was knowledgeable, not all that engaging and very politically opinionated. Still, we enjoyed his efficiency and would say he did a great job. Coronado was a safe and polite driver! We selected the early access tour, which meant a 5:25am hotel pickup. We were collected promptly and taken to a different meeting point. Our group consisted of 12 people, and the van was okay. Not super comfortable but clean and with working AC. We set out to the first stop and arrived at Chichen Itza right as they opened, a little after 8am. The day was already warm, but contrary to what we had read, there is some shade to be found on the grounds and one can take water but not much else. Hats and sunscreen are a must. Frank gave us a two hour guided tour, which included three of the main "buildings". The information he provided was interesting and from what we could tell, fairly accurate. We then had 45 minutes of free time, not nearly enough to see everything so we chose to visit other ruins instead of the cenote. We had to move fast but managed to see more, and the vendors that everyone complains about were persistent but respectful. This site is stunning and we only wish we had more time to walk around and explore. The drive to lunch was quick, and the meal was okay. Nothing fancy but the facilities were clean and well staffed. They also had a well stocked store, and the manager gave everyone a mayan blessing (no pressure to make purchases). After lunch, we drove 15 minutes to cenote Saamal. This stop did not disappoint! We paid an extra 50 pesos per life vest (mandatory to swim) and 50 pesos for the locker; totally acceptable and easy to navigate. Getting in the water was simple and safe, there was no crowd, it was all very relaxing. The cenote is a surreal site! I did not try the tequila; my husband did and agreed that it was delicious but quite expensive. The only negative aspect of this tour was the fact the Valladolid was not included. Yes, we had paid for it but Frank informed us that participants were not happy with that stop so they had removed it from the itinerary. A minor but unacceptable hiccup, wrong advetising. We were dropped off at our hotel at 4:30pm, making it a very long but totally worth it day! All in all, both Viator and Amigo Tours delivered and we would recommend their services, just make sure to ask lots of questions regarding itinerary, schedule, extras, etc.

Really enjoyed the day
David_G
, Jul 2022
Great tour but not perfect. I was extremely impressed with our guide who seemlessly did the tour in both English and Spanish at the same time. I only speak English and understood everything he said and found him extremely knowledgeable. The downsides are after Chicen Itza. Lunch went ok for too long in my opinion and at my table we were left unsure of the schedule and a bit bored. After that was the cenote and tequila tour. I felt that was a bit rushed and wish I’d had more time at the cenote as someone who chose to do both. Finally, the stop at Valladolid felt a bit strange. I wish they offered an architectural tour or something for people who didn’t want to shop. Overall I really enjoyed the day and would recommend but there is room for improvement.

Dear David_G, we are glad to know that you enjoyed the day! On the other hand we are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations at all; thanks a lot for sharing your opinion with us, we will absolutely consider it to improve our services. Kind regards Mariana, Amigo tours

Worth It!

This was a great tour. It will be all day so be ready, especially if you have kids-take snacks. It started with the drive to Valladolid- we bought some delicious coffee there. Then we made our way to the Mayan Village. We ate lunch and shopped. The food was delicious. Next came Chichen-Itzá- it was such a beautiful tour and we learned so much history from our tour guides- Freddy and Rodrigo-some amazing pictures were taken. Then we went to the Cenote. So beautiful as well. This was a great trip and it’s worth every penny!

Marco's Amigos Tour is the Best!

Marco was a fantastic tour guide. He has 31 years of experience as well as a degree in archeology. He was insightful, happy to take photos for everyone, and was very helpful with clear instructions when moving from one activity to the next, including escorting us to our specific transport vehicles.

This tour structure is horrible for families!
Alexis_T
, Jul 2022
This tour departs at 5 am. Many hotels don’t have breakfast options at 5 am, so you will starve on the bus ride, and if you have a large family- you understand how important that is. Also, Viator does not send you that fine print detail about pick up until the day before they charge you. Also it says the tour ends at 5, but the fine print they don’t make clear is that at 5 you begin your 3 hour bus ride so you don’t actually end until after 8. Also, they charge you extra for a tax at the pyramid and for a life vest at the cenote. Also, Viator customer service is very unhelpful and rude once they charge you. It’s great customer service until they get your money then they don’t care about providing quality service at all anymore. I’m surprised that his is a Travelocity company. I travel a lot with groups, I’ll be sure to tell everyone never to use Viator to book!

Best Experience During Our Trip to Mexico!
Kayla_C
, Jun 2022
My husband and I were lucky enough to have Rodrigo and Marco. I have been to the ruins three times, and this was the best and most informative trip. The guides are funny and knowledgable. As a history teacher, I greatly appreciated their expertise. The trip was well organized. We were picked up on time, we did a lot of things in one trip. The tequila tasting was amazing. We went on three other guided trips, and this was by far the best experience we had. Thank you!!!

Very disappointed.
Daniel_R
, Jun 2022
I was really disappointed in this trip. It was nothing like the one I took 2 years ago. The tour on the bus was very hard to hear with the mask on and a very staticky microphone. He also spoke 90% in Spanish and kids didn’t understand. I requested English speaking tour. Also I had told my family about the lady making homemade tortillas and salsa making we got to enjoy the last time I came and they didn’t have ether. The tour makes the trip and ours was very boring making everyone really wanting it to be over.
