Tour Not As Explained in Description
Kanika_B
, Jul 2020
Unfortunately, this tour was disappointing. Our guide and driver were very nice, but with the mask, it was hard to hear him explaining points of interest. The ruins are closed, so that part was cancelled (which they did communicate before hand); however the description shows visitng a tequlia museum as part of the tour. It was actually a shop that had tequila tasting stations that were closed. You visit Mercado 28 also, which is a very high pressure sales environment. If that annoys you, stay on the bus. The other shop was fine as no one bothered you while you were shopping. They did have safety protocols in place with temperature checks and hand sanitizer every time you re-entered the bus.

Kanka, thank you very much for taking the time to write to us, it is very important for us to hear from our client and is the way to find out what we need to work on. The pandemic going on has changed a lot of the procedures we were doing and we are trying to adapt as fast as we can. Some of the places that were on the original itinerary did not open again on time so it gave us very little time to advise our clients, we apologize for that. Once again, thank you,

Lots of fun. El Meco is a must see, our guide had a lot of info about el meco and the history of Cancun itself shopping in the market is a unique experience.

The guide was fantastic and explained a lot about the city on the tour. Seeing the Caribbean ocean and Mayan ruins was great.

Frustrating experience!!!

We have done a ton of tours on Viator, and I must say, this is the first that has let us down! The first "surprise" was that it too 2 hours to do all the pickups, when it was supposed to take an hour. The second "surprise" was that they had oversold the tour, so the guide (Tony) had to sit on top of a cooler in the middle of the van, a pregnant lady had to squeeze in the front seat with her husband and the driver, and we in the back had to shift around in order to fit in the seats better (based on our sizes). Then on to the stops...First stop was El Meco Ruins, which was interesting (Tony had good info on them), but really small. Then on to a local market where a bunch of pushy people tried to sell us a bunch of junk. Then onto a dead empty mall, practically no shops and only 2 small restaurants, for a cheapo tequila tour and a very rushed lunch. We had a total of 1 hour at the mall, including the tequila tour, so by the time we sat down and ordered, there was no time to eat! We had to pay for the food and have them pack it up in "to go" boxes, and re-heat the food at 4:00 p.m. when we finally got back to the hotel. Also, my husband ended up being sick, probably due to the transport of the food, reheating, etc. Lastly, Armando's driving. He drives like a maniac! We did not get into any accident because God is Good, but his driving was terrible! I live in Latin American and my husband is a fast driver so I don't tend to "scare easily", but Armando's driving was very troubling....Especially considering that there was a pregnant person in the front seat, elderly adults squeezed into the back, 2 small children, and his coworker (Tony) who only had a cooler for a seat! An accident would have been a disaster, and he drove like he was in a rush rush rush. I think they have the right idea (small city tour of Cancun), but they need to plan commute times and van space better, add better info/content to the tour stops, leave more time for lunch (and hopefully at a better place) and concentrate on safer driving!!!!

Hello, first of all let us thank you for taking the time to write us to let us know about your experience in our tour. We apoligize in advance for the inconvenient and we´ll make sure to take action in the problem. The overbookin in our tour was due becouse other reservation had an extra person that was not reported. Our driver is already aware of this situation, so this won´t happen again, we´ll contrate in the driving and pay more attention to it. Once again we apoligize for the inconvenient. Sincerely,

Getting to know the area
AO943

Jesus and Armand, were our tour guides for our Cancun tour. Pick up and drop off was on time. Both gentlemen were knowledgeable of the areas we had the opportunity to visit. To be specific, Jesus was knowledgeable of Cancun and El Meco, while Armand was extremely comfortable talking about the Mayans. The trip was nice, however my husband and I do feel like the price was over priced for an excursion that did not include a meal or a drink. Shopping time (because hey, that’s why most of us would book this excursion) needed to be a little longer. Cutting El Meco stop and the tequila store/explanation down to 15 minutes each and more time to shop around, especially because the market we went to was so big, 1 hour was not enough for me (my husband on the other hand was glad it was just an hour, lol)

Tony our tour guide was very accommodating and cordial. When we were ready to leave a location, he was very flexible. One of the tourist felt ill due to the heat and he quickly had her dropped off at her hotel. Very thoughtful. He has great knowledge of the area and culture. Keep him and give him a raise.
