Returns to original departure point
Make your own way to the marina in Cairns where you board your spacious 54-foot (16.5-meter) 2–masted schooner for the sailing excursion to Green Island, located on the Great Barrier Reef.

Sip a cup of complimentary tea or coffee and snack on fresh muffins and fruit as your vessel prepares for departure. Receive a safety briefing then perhaps assist the crew with hoisting the sails before relaxing and soaking up the scenery as you motor-sail to Green Island.

Green Island is a protected Marine National Park, topped with emerald rain forest and surrounded by white sandy beaches and magnificent coral reefs, the perfect place for snorkeling and scuba diving. If you plan to scuba dive (additional cost), complete your paperwork and site briefing during the journey over to the island so that you can hop in the water upon arrival.

Your captain moors the boat at Pinnacle Reef just offshore from Green Island. Hit the water and snorkel or dive among schools of tropical fish, turtles, giant clams, shells, starfish and sea anemones in this underwater paradise.

After a morning of snorkeling and scuba diving, a delicious buffet lunch is served onboard your boat before transferring by dinghy to Green Island. Relax on the beach or explore the island. Visit Marineland Melanesia to watch the crocodile feeding and see a variety of marine life up close.

After ample time on the Great Barrier Reef, sail back to Cairns (wind permitting). Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with your tropical afternoon tea, a perfect way to end your day out on the reef.

This tour is perfect for all levels of water experience with instruction and in-water assistance provided.

Loved it!

The weather was perfect, being out on the water was relieving from the humidity on land. There was only 13 or so people which was awesome. They reversed the tour which suited us better! On Green Island, we went to the croc place (aka crocodile prison for the not-so nice crocs) and were in time to be the only 2 there for the feeding. The beach and waters were stunning and amazing with so little people there. Lunch did the job. Snorkelling was amazing!!! Saw a shark, a stingray, different coloured coral, colourful fishes and no jellyfish thankfully ! After everyone was back on board, we headed back but stopped for a while to enjoy a glass of wine, fruit and cake. It was so peaceful. Thanks to Jess, Matt and Scott for a great experience. Biggest regret is not asking them more questions about the reef, their experiences etc but I learned from it and annoyed all my other guides in Australia 😁

Thank you for your review, so glad to hear how much you enjoyed your trip! The crocodiles are truly a sight to see, and it also sounds like you saw some of the best marine life the reef has to offer. There is something so peaceful and beautiful about turning off the engine and sailing (or drifting, if there is no wind!) with a glass of wine and snacks – no better way to end the day. You’ll have to keep a list of all your questions and come back to ask us again 😊

Fun small group tour with tons of food and great snorkeling

I could not have been happier about this tour. There were approximately 15 people on the boat, and 6 crew members. When we arrived there was tea, coffee and pastries. They gave us an information session on our intro scuba diving and then we took off. The intro scuba diving was amazing. My wife and I had never scuba dived before and they did it extremely safe. They basically lock arms with you and drag you threw the water and all you need to do is focus on breathing. The snorkeling in the afternoon session was awesome as well. They dropped us off at green island for 2 hours so we could explore and see the crocodiles in captivity. When we got back on the boat they just kept providing food. We got lunch, cheese and crackers with a glass of white wine, a large fruit spread then to end it with a large dessert spread. They also served beers on the boat for purchase, but they were less expensive on the boat than anywhere else. We purchased a few beers then went onto the beach at green island and relaxed for a bit. This tour was amazing. I would do this one again in a heart beat over the giant catamaran cruises with 200 people.

Fantastic day with an amazing crew!

An Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The crew was simply fantastic and made the day a very memorable one. Scott was a great captain. He was informative and made the entire trip fun. Jess was my diving instructor and put me at ease with my first time diving. And Matt led our snorkel experience and gave a great tour of the reef. The three also put out a great spread for the day starting with breakfast, then a great lunch between Green Island and our diving and finally some sweets, cheese and crackers with wine to enjoy our trip back to the mainland. I 100% recommend this tour and will definitely book again, if I return to Cairns!

Thia tour is a great. The small group definitely helps. The sail boat ride was fun and unique. I would recommend seeing the crocodile feeding in green island. I'm not a very good swimmer but I was able to snorkel with the help of the guides. And they showed us all the different Coral in the water.

Once in a life time

This Green Island sailing cruise was the best part of the week stay in Cairns for my wife and I. We signed up for snorkeling but decided to dive instead. We are both certified divers and dove the great barrier reef the day before 3 times. We both agree the experience with the crew and scuba guide of this sailing boat was much better than the larger vessel we took the day before. They limit the amount of people to 25 and on this day we traveled with about 12 other people. A couple from Iowa did the introductory dive and said they loved it. There were only 3 certified divers this day and we all did the 2 dives. We actually experienced more marine life including black tips, tuna, puffer fish and sting rays while diving and the corral was awesome. We walked Green Island after lunch and returned to the boat for the second dive. While we were sailing dolphins joined us for a while which was really cool. All the food was great and we can not say enough about the crew. They made this a once in a life time experience for us.

Paul, Sophie, and Chris were awesome! The crew was knowledgeable and went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. We had perfect weather and water so we were able to enjoy our snorkel time to its fullest extent. The food on the boat was also good. I highly recommend this excursion!

Best tour activity ever! Went with the diving option which was fantastic, led by instructor Chris (thanks Chris!). The crew were super helpful and I would go with the same company again. Went on another tour the day after and it didn’t compare to this one!
