6:00 AM
Start your Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek 4WD tour with early morning pickup from your hotel. Departing Broome for the Kimberley, hear informative commentary from your guide on the geography of the region.

You'll stop at the Willare Roadhouse for morning tea beside the Fitzroy River, then continue on to the Boab Prison Tree, rumored to have been used in the 1890s to imprison indigenous Australians en route to nearby Derby for sentencing.

After a look, continue along the Gibb River Road, a former cattle route accessible by 4WD vehicles. You'll arrive at Windjana Gorge, an ancient reef oasis of the Napier Range, made of soaring limestone walls rising more than 300 feet (90 meters). Search for fossils of shells and tiny marine creatures as your guide points out any wildlife, including birds and freshwater crocodiles that stealthily inhabit the Lennard River.

After a picnic lunch, depart Windjana Gorge for Tunnel Creek in the afternoon. Disembark your vehicle for a guided walking tour of subterranean tunnels that form an underground labyrinth beneath the Napier Range. Your guide reveals the history of white settlement in the Kimberley region and shares the legendary tale of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal tracker who led an insurrection against colonizing pastoralists and hid out in the gorge in the late 19th century.

Reward your walk with a refreshing dip in a swimming hole before a last stop at the ruins of Lillimooloora Station to view the sunset. Your 15-hour day trip includes afternoon tea and an optional dinner (own expense), before arriving back in Broome at night.

Amazing country
, May 2022
Jamie our tour guide was amazing with all the history of the area which was certainly entertaining and a lesson in our local history. The Windjana George and Tunnel Creek is a must see.

This was an amazing tour! Operated by Kimberly Wild Tours and our driver and host for the day was a young lass named Brooke. She was superb and gave us excellent insight and history of the 2 sights we were visiting...Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek. Morning and afternoon snacks, a fantastic lunch and a great group of fellow travelers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this trip to everyone! Both are stunning sights off the Gibb Rd
Fantastic day

Fantastic day. Very well and efficiently organised. Unfortunately Tunnel Creek was closed because of a rockfall, but they rang us the night before to let us know and giving us the option of pulling out. We went to a nice art gallery in Derby instead. Windjana Gorge was spectacular. Our guide Michelle was fantastic - friendly, efficient and very informative and entertaining. Well done Kimberley Wild!

Windjana Gorge Day Tour
, Aug 2021
Michelle was an amazing tour guide, she certainly knew her stuff. Windjana Gorge was breathtaking and well worth the visit, there were plenty of crocs to be seen. Unfortunately Tunnel Creek was closed because of falling rocks so Michelle took us into Derby to see a local art gallery to to see the wharf. All in all a long but amazing day was had by the whole group.
Thrilling and intriguing

Wow what a day ! Michelle our guide for starters was wonderful loved her upbeat vibe! She was very knowledgeable on indigenous history and kept us intrigued with some of her stories on Broome's history. The gorge was breathtaking to walk through and a treat to be able to visit there. Then onto Tunnel Creek it was thrilling to walk through quite the adventure so glad we went at some point we had to swim through but just added to the excitement! I’m 55 my hubby 60 and we managed the walk swim climb through without to much of problem highly recommended and such a thrill to see the crocs and swim in the water hole. Thanks Michelle and Kimberley Wild !
Didn't see / do everything that was in the programme
, May 2021
I disliked: - didn't have much time for the gorge and after all the driving we walked only 500m inside it instead of the the full 3.5km (felt I missed on a great experience because of that) - no toilets for 5h!!! - sitting on the bus for 3h in wet clothes (no changing rooms after the tunnel creek) - food was more important than free time (brekkie, lunch, tea, dinner...) - "take a refreshing swim in a picturesque waterhole" - no time for that - "sunset visit to the ruins of Lillimooloora Station" - haven't stopped there - 10h on the bus, 2h of eating, 3h of sightseeing - there were people with obvious walking problems (e.g. a walking sticks), one lady even fell face on the ground. I felt sorry for her and I don't think the tour operator should let them take part in this trip as it was a danger to their health. I liked: - the guide - being able to walk the full length of the tunnel creek

Day out
, May 2021
Great day out even though it was 15 hours The tour guides Gary and Simmo were very friendly, very knowledgeable on the areas and outright great to travel with. I suggested a cold beer would go down well as the weather was quite hot out there especially at Windjana Gorge
Big Day but great day
, May 2021
It was a long but enjoyable day with some great experiences. Tour Guides Gary and Michelle were excellent and made the trip most interesting. Gary's commentary whilst on the bus travelling between sights about the Kimberly region and history was very interesting and insightful. Windjana Gorge was magnificent and the Leonard river running through the gorge was quite scenic lots of fish swimming around and the many alligators sunning themselves on the waters edge was quite exciting. Tunnel creek was probably the highlight with having to walk, wade, and at one point actually swim through the tunnel. A word of WARNING this particular attraction is definitely not for the disabled or for anyone with mobility issues as you have to go through narrow gaps, climb over rough jagged rock surfaces and may be required to swim depending on water levels at the time. From hotel pick up to drop off was almost 15 hours and a round trip of about 700 klms but it was a most enjoyable day and worth it for the experience.
Terrific day

Our tour guide Gary was exceptionally knowledgeable. The tour was well run and we had plenty of time to explore at our pace.
