Getting our new York pass before heading to New York was such a benefit. We simply printed out our passes which is one page per person with a bar code, we took this barcode with us to the attractions and this got our tickets. This meant the money we had was simply for meals and shopping.

I would NOT recommend using NY City Explorer pass here. We could never find a bus. When we did, just drove right past us. Tickets for 911 Memorial and Empire State Building did not have the ability to “jump the line” we waited in long lines and had to exchange our printed tickets at their ticket Windows. This defeats the purpose of buying online. I never found a place that had the bus routes or coupon books. I called and they were to email info, never received anything. Found some information by walking around and asking peop,e. Waited at the stop no busses. I have used Trip Advisor in Chicago, Boston and Washington DC with great success. Will probably not use again.

Thank you for reviewing the NYC Explorer Pass. We appreciate all of the feedback. We do have a listing on our website of the attractions and their locations. Unfortunately, during peak season in New York City, attractions can get busy and wait times may be longer than normal. We are so sorry for any inconvenience.

TRIP Empire

A good trip in all, but there were time restrictions on the day, that we were not aware of until we were on the hop-on-hop-off bus. The bus basically shuts down at 6 p.m. and a night tour commences about an hour later (which was not included in our 24 hour (?) bus pass). We did have a good time in the Empire State building and got a chance to do some shopping. It was a little inconvenient having to find and transfer to a different bus to go to Upper Manhattan. Overall, not a bad deal.

We were in NY for 5 nights and bought a 3 visit pass which was about right-and did the bus tour, 9/11 Museum and Empire State as bought a separate guided trip for Statue of Liberty to get into the pedestal. We were lucky with the timing of our trip in May as the bus company were offering 2 days for the price of one so had extra value for our city pass which was good value anyway.

Helps with budgeting, pass can be bought well in advance of trip. Use for higher priced attractions to gain best value from pass. Bought 5 attraction pass for 7 day visit and struggled to use all of it. Lots to do for free in New York so go for 3 attraction pass and walk. You see lots more.

This pass is good value if you intend to do multiple attractions, you just need to calculate before you arrive the things you will see, and plan before you arrive. Not sure the big bus is the best for New York, but was great in other cities.
