Return Details

Returns to original departure point
After morning pickup from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast, catch the ferry to Moreton Island. You might spot dolphins, migrating humpback whales, and other marine animals on the way to Moreton Island.

Moreton Island is the third-largest sand island in the world. Travel by sturdy 4WD-vehicle along the sandy beach to Tangalooma Wrecks where you have a choice of activities. Snorkel with your guide among the Tangalooma Wrecks, 15 ships that were purposely scuttled to create a break wall, now inhabited by colorful corals, tropical fish, sea turtles, and other critters. Alternatively, use provided transparent bodyboards to take a look at the reef, or stay dry and enjoy the beach.

Refuel with a picnic lunch served on the beach, then hop into a transparent kayak and follow your guide on a tour of the Tangalooma Wrecks, watching an array of fish swim underneath your kayak.

Swap the sea for the sand as your guide steers your 4WD inland to reach the sand dunes. There, try sandboarding, an exhilarating sport that is comparable to tobogganing. Some people can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour (50 kph) while zipping down the dunes.

If time allows after sandboarding, return to Tangalooma Beach for a swim before reboarding the ferry. Your tour ends with return to your starting point in Brisbane or the Gold Coast in the evening.

(Please note: if conditions are unfavorable for snorkeling and kayaking, a 4WD island tour will be substituted).
Stop At:
Moreton Island
In the morning, your 4WD coach picks you up from the Gold Coast or Brisbane, then travels to the ferry to Moreton Island. During the 75-minute ferry ride across Moreton Bay, take in views from the deck or cabin, keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life. When you reach the island, your 4WD-vehicle drives along the sand to the Tangalooma Wrecks where you have several options for beachside fun. Follow your guide on a snorkeling tour of the famous shipwrecks; the 15 vessels were purposely sunk here to create a breakwall. This resulting reef is home to colorful corals, tropical fish, trevally, yellowtail, wobbegong, kingfish and more. If snorkeling doesn’t appeal to you, use the provided transparent bodyboards to paddle in search of turtles, reef fish, coral and other critters, or simply relax on the white-sand beach. After the snorkel tour, your guide serves a picnic lunch before leading a tour on transparent kayaks to explore the Tangalooma Wrecks. Stay dry as you view an amazing array of fish right below your kayak. (Please note that a 4WD tour around the island will replace the snorkeling and kayaking if conditions are unfavorable). Next, hang on tight as your driver takes your 4WD on rough inland tracks to tall sand dunes that are ideal for sandboarding, a fun, high-adrenaline activity comparable to tobogganing. It is possible to reach speeds of up to 30 mphr (50 kph) as you zip down the dunes. After sandboarding, return to the coast and enjoy a swim at Tangalooma Beach (if time allows). Then catch the ferry back to the mainland and reach Brisbane or the Gold Coast in the evening.

Amazing trip

I’m completely impressed with the professionalism of this crew. They take care of us every single minute. They have knowledge about everting in that island, the guide, Cris is such a amazing person. If you are looking for the best crew, just choose them, you will won’t regret. And about the island, is wonderful, the most clear water that I have seen in my life. Can’t wait for returning.

Best Day On Moreton Island
, Oct 2020
Best day, the crew were fantastic and really accommodated for our 5 year old. It was her first time on the reef snorkelling and they made her feel safe and secure. Nothing was too much trouble! A HUGE thank you for all their service. We loved it we are even considering the 2 day tour now!

Good time

Really good tour and well worth it. Kind, informative guides made it an enjoyable day. I'd advise wearing sunglasses for the sandboarding. I hit a small divot on the way down and spent three days cleaning sand out of my eyes.

Great guides. Great experiences and so much knowledge among all the employees. Live in Queensland and never realised how little I have seen. Would definitely be back

Morten Island Get Wrecked Tour

Amazing and beautiful island. Sand boarding and kayaking was great fun but for me I could not do snorkelling and so very disappointing. I informed the guide that I had never done snorkelling before so he should have taken extra care to explain the use of equipment and help me out which he did not n took the group near the ship wreck area. I needed more helpful guide n instructor. So I’m unhappy about that.
Amazing Experience!

Excellent activities, beautiful place, smooth boat ride, sad lunch
, Nov 2019
Pickup and drop-off were nice and clear, the boat ride was smooth, the activities were fantastic! Moreton Island is definitely worth a visit - snorkeling at the wrecks was amazing, and kayaking was nice as well, though hard because of the wind and current at the time that we went. The current there is pretty strong, and that particular day it was windy, so being in the water was more like being on a lazy river. I thought of doing this by myself, and I'm glad I got the tour instead - I don't think I would have gotten to the wrecks safely on my own, even if I'm a good swimmer. Sandboarding was a blast! So glad I did it, and it's less scary than it looks! The tour had about 30 people on it, so there wasn't much communication among participants, and there were so many guides that it was impossible to establish rapport. The lunch was just terrible bread (you know, the kind that's full of sugar and you can leave it on the cupboard for a month, and it won't go bad), basic veggies and deli meat. Not great for vegetarians who try to watch the figure. No plates to even make yourself a salad; just grab veggies in your hand, I guess. I should have brought my own lunch. Other than sad food options and too big of a group, it was a good tour. Moreton Island is definitely worth a visit, and this tour company is probably just as good as others.
Fun in the sun

We initially weren't going to participate in the sand boarding but we both walked out to have a look...soooo glad we both ended up sliding down! What a rush! The snorkeling was wonderful....lots of fish around the wrecks. Hands down a great day excursion!
A day at the beach
, Aug 2019
On this trip it takes about an hour to get to the harbour to catch the ferry over to Moreton Island. There is food and restrooms on board the ferry. It took about an hour to get over to the island. Once there you walk about 100 yards along the beach. We did the glass bottom kayak and it was such a great experience. They do provide life vests for this. The next thing was snorkeling, but we chose to stay on the beach instead as the water was quite cold even though you could have a wet suit. After this we were given lunch of sandwiches and chips. Please note, no drinks were provided or not mentioned I think there was water in a jug, but the cups looked dirty. There is only a tiny remote bathroom in this area with no soap available. Be prepared to get in the water when you arrive as not much to change into except the remote bathroom. After lunch we took a 4 wheel vehicle way up the island to sand boarding. It is a difficult climb in sand to the top and you literally slide down a waxed piece of plywood down a very big hill! To say the least, I am still finding sand as you get covered!! If you don't want to kayak, snorkel or sand board, this is not the excursion for you. You are not by the resort and stay together as a group. Our guides were very friendly and helpful and a joy to be around. It is a more remote area of the island and bring a towel as they are not provided.
