Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Make your own way to Brisbane’s Southbank district to board your boat. View the city’s skyscrapers, leafy suburbs, and waterside mansions pass by as your captain provides informative commentary about the sights.

Arrive at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and enjoy plenty of time to explore on your own.

More than 130 koala bears reside at Lone Pine—the world’s largest koala sanctuary. Plus, you have the chance to visit the Platypus House to observe the elusive platypus.

The Birds of Prey show features owls, kites, and sea eagles, and colorful wild lorikeets fly in for feedings. Keep an eye out for Eastern Water Dragons—a lizard that grows up to three feet (90cm) long. Admire the working dogs at the sheepdog show as they round up sheep while responding to their master’s whistles, calls, and hand signals.

Meals are available for purchase on the river cruise and at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary's cafe (own expense). After discovering Lone Pine, return to your boat for the cruise back to Southbank where your tour ends.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opened in 1927 as a safe refuge for sick, injured, and oprhaned koalas, at a time when the species was being culled for the fur trade. Founder, Claude Reid, recognised something had to be done to help protect one of Australia's most iconic species. Today, Lone Pine remains as a destination not only see native Australian animals, but to also connect and learn, and to leave feeling inspired to make small, positive changes in your daily lives to help protect native wildlife and habitats. Along with koalas and kangaroos, Lone Pine hosts a sheepdog show where you see the hardworking dogs round up a herd of sheep, responding to their master’s whistles, calls and hand signals. You can see owls, kites and sea eagles soar above you at the Birds of Prey show, or marvel at the colorful feathers of the wild lorikeets that fly in twice daily for feedings. Other bird species and a population of Eastern Water Dragons, a lizard that grows up to 3 feet (90cm) long, also like to visit Lone Pine’s lush natural parkland.

Fantastic time viewing the animals etc. Very good interaction with crew who work there. Staff very informative to questions. Bit of a downside unfortunately is maybe a few more rubbish collection points and letting the public know when and if the food place is open. All in all if possible would return

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review and share your experience with others. I will take your feedback about the rubbish and cafe to the crew and to the staff at Lone Pine for improvement. Kind regards Debbie

Peaceful

As usual we had a delightful stay in this lovely peaceful dwelling overlooking its meandering creek and natural Bush land. The owners of the house have thought of everything right down to the great BBQ out on that wonderful deck. If we did nothing else but sit on that deck and take in the view....that would be enough.

The Brisbane River Cruise on the Mirimar boat was the highlight of our day! The crew was fantastic, they made us feel more than welcome and provided heaps of commentaries all along the river. We stayed 2 hours in the Sanctuary where we saw heaps of Koalas but also Platypus, a Cassowary, Kangaroos, reptiles... The return trip on the boat was also nice thanks to our super crew! I highly recommend this experience! If you are on a touristic trip or even just curious about Brisbane history, don't hesitate!
