Great learning experience

This was a very efficient day long tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about numerous topics concerning Hawaii flora, fauna, geology history and culture. In the National Park we did a one mile hike into the volcano crater. Along the way we walked past several steam vents and a wall of sulfur. Next we took a five mile drive down a one lane very rough road to a secluded private park like spot in the country where there were organic fruits we could pick and eat. After a box lunch in a rustic style pavilion we headed for the on-site private lava tube. The ground was wet so a couple of people slipped and fell on their way down the steep approach into the cave-like tube. Once inside it was completely dark. The flashlight provided by the tour had dead batteries so the tour guide gave me her flashlight's. After driving the five miles down the single lane rough road we headed for the black sand beach. There we were treated to close-up views of sea turtles on the rocks by the shore. The only negative comment from our kids and grandkids was the day went by too fast.

Joel our guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we got to see everything! The stars aligned for us and we got to see both lava flow at the Vocano national park and sea turtles at the black sand beach! An unforgettable day!
