After pickup from your central Beijing hotel, travel by private, air-conditioned vehicle to the Silk Road Impression restaurant, which specializes in cuisine from China’s northwest Xinjiang region.

The Silk Road snaked through Xinjiang and its food is heavily influenced by its Muslim community and neighbors such as Pakistan and India. The result is a mosaic of Chinese and Central Asian flavors, and halal (prepared according to Islamic law) dishes.

Here, enjoy a delicious Xinjiang dinner of creations like lamb kebabs, pilaf (rice with meat), chicken, noodles, and naan bread, all with water or other drinks (own expense).

Afterward, continue to Beijing’s old quarter: an area of history-steeped hutong lanes and traditional shikumen stone houses. Stroll down pretty, bar-lined Lotus Lane, admiring the 2-story wooden and shikumen buildings, all prettily lit in the dusk.

Then, walk beside Houhai Lake and visit Yandai Xie Street (Tobacco Pouch Street), one of Beijing’s oldest hutongs. Discover its history and if you wish, purchase souvenirs at the shops.

Lastly, visit a bar on popular Houhai Bar Street, enjoying a local beer as you admire the lake views and hear about this old neighborhood from your guide.

Your tour then ends with a hotel drop-off.
